his new albums have sucked, yes - but that doesn't make him a bad producer. and he actually can rap, he's just been doing stupid shit like 808.

I give every artist a chance.. Ive heard kayne rap, eh' ok I guess.. the pr stunts turned me off.... the end.
I have more hope for the Bieber kid in music than I do kayne.. anyone that can take a bottle to the head and lol is ok by me. In 20yrs when his voice is all raspy. he become the new metal sensation, he'll be able to take glass bottles, and ground meat..

lol calling kanye a musical genius...you people have never listened to aesop rock. Kanye produces commercial rap...it's made to sell. So like mentioned earlier he may have entrepreneurial skills and know how to capitalize on his music but that's not what I look for in music as I see it as an artistic outlet...not a cash grab.

and purp..me mentioning I'm getting tables was me saying expect to hear something new...my friends and I have big plans for 2011. We aren't working 9-5's forever.,,gonna start producing some fresh shit unlike anything you have had pumped into your ears before.

edit: Also...to any of you that have never heard of this cat 'Grieves'...you're missin' out. '88 keys and counting' and 'irreversible' are both fucking amazing..I haven't had a good chance to listen through "the confessions of Mr. Modest" yet...but seriously this guy is fresh.

 

kanye is a genius when it comes to selling albums as well as on the pads.

you can't make hippity hop freshy fresh beats with just some tables, either...wanna make some real beats? use those tables to sample shit (you don't need anything fancy here, just something to upload clips) and lay down on some akai. everyone has big hopes for making their own music dude. i've got friends that have big dreams, too.

you can't expect to go out and turn the world on its head just cause you think your take on hiphop is prime.

I'll be getting an mpc+laptop too. I'm thinkin the mpc with the little keyboard on it...not sure of the model number. Tables I'm getting are denon DN-s3700's which are digital tables with vinyls on top but actually use cd/mp3. I have an interview for a job that pays $16 an hour on monday...pretty confident that it's mine so in like 2 weeks I should have the tables+mixer. Also have a buddy that inherited half a mil who said he would be willing to help me out as long as I pay him back in installments...potentially could have everything I need by the new year.I would love to get real vinyl tables but there are only a few record shops around here, so it's just more practical to go digital. That and it's new technology so I figure I may as well. I have buddies that are already producing some ok tracks..not the style I'm interested in but they are decent. They have done some work with guys from Army of the Pharaohs.

And I don't think I'm going to to turn the world on it's head. This city is starving for something new...I know I have the talent to make a living off my art. I just need the notoriety. If a fist pumping faggot DJ like paulyD can get a gig in this city I guarantee I can. I can draw, paint, sing, dance. I'm a fucking artist. I know what sounds good, I know what sounds shitty. I know what looks hot, I know what looks like shit. It's too easy.

i surely wouldn;t invest in anyone unless i knew that they were already making money...i don't really understand what your deal is if you are talking trash about people selling music but then you want to go out and sell yours. like whats the diff? youre gonna have to play to your audience if your dude wants his money back

 

No I'm going to work to pay him back. Hence the new job. I'll be doing this as a hobby to start. I don't care if I get rich or sell albums...as long as I can play shows and people buy some merch I don't gove a fuck. I'll give ep's away for free at first. If I can make a living (able to feed/shelter myself) without ever being on someone elses schedule 5 years from now I'll be happy even if I'm living on 20 grand a year. I'll be making close to a grand a week at this job before taxes...buddy will only need to lend me like 2 grand. I'll have him paid off in a month.

im just sayin it's not really a viable dream to expect to make money from a market that is so extremely flooded. especially when the people flooding it have way more experience in the biz. i'm saying good luck cause you'll need it.

it's not as easy as you're making it seem...and just cause you have the equipment, doesn't mean you will be able to pull anything off.

if anything i would hold off on wasting your money before you know you even like it. what programs are you running? do you have experience in said program? do you have access to sample recordings? do you have a vinyl library?

you could be doing most of what youre dreaming up without the equipment. it's like a writer that goes out and buys 10 dollar cans, cause they think its gonna make their tag look better. no, you just wasted money when you could be bombing on 2 bucks (or free)

 

Give me a guitar I'll make sound, give me a pair of drumsticks and a set of drums and I'll lay down a beat. Give me a set of paints and I'll make something beautiful. Same goes for anything. Give me the time to experiment with it and I will come up with something. Yes all I need is equipment to pull something off. You can't do the job without the right tools. I could half ass this and go out and buy shit that will need replacing in a year or less, but I have a hard time filling the void we call time, and know that if I had a set of tables infront of me I'd rip them to pieces and love every minute of it. I have nothing to prove to you. I'm doing this for myself, if you don't like with what I come up with I could give 2 shits. Kanye, slug, ant, lupe...whoever. They are all human. Their perception of what looks/sounds good is no better/worse than mine. If they can do something I can.

 

I had at least 4 keyboards made in the 1980's early 90s with the same beats they use today, during the development of midi.
