im guessing this is aimed at some of my posts...its jest that i like to just trust people when they tell me what they have, havent been lied to yet though

 

The whole concept of having a certain 'strain' has been diluted by an overflow of info on the subject. Basicly, yeah, any dealer can spout off any number of catch names that would be recognizable. Probably fool a few people too. Y'know maybe sling some high mids or just fairly good herb that's a little better than the average, along comes stoner A who's used to some low mids or even just brick, and tada! they just smoked some killer shit that was called "x name". Along comes stoner b who knows his shit and is like, no that's not "x name", I've smoked it and that's not it, but it looks good for right now and proceeds to haggle and bargain. Such is the dynamics of the world of the stoner

 

How do you know that you have not been lied to? Unless you are pretty well versed in Marijuana Horticulture you won't be able to tell by seeing the plant, which I doubt any smart dealer would let you do in the first place.

You can't really tell by looking at the bud, either. While strains have difference characteristics you aren't going to have any idea unless you are an expert on the subject.

Take ANYTHING a dealer says with a grain of salt. Odds are they are lying to you, or they were lied to by someone higher up on the chain. They are in this to make money.

The only way to be sure is to buy seeds from a respectable seed bank, and grow them yourself. That or buy from shops. If you ever hear anyone say they have Purple Haze you KNOW they are full of nothing but shit, I suggest you slap them.

Even if you have a certian strain that doesn't really mean anything. You grow the best strain out there like shit, and the bud will turn out like shit. Just inspect it and make the best choice, or smoke some. Taste, Potency, and High are all the main things to me. I don't care what it looks or smells like if it gets me good and stoned, and doesn't taste like shit on the way.

 

how would you know?

 

In Pittsburgh most of the good dealers get it from other dealers and most of those dealers get it from one of the "warehouses" noone knows where these "warehouses" are, if they are really warehouses, or anything. As long as it comes from one of those dealers you know it's authentic.

 

If you're talking designer weed, than, in some cases, someone who already knows for sure what it looks/smells like, can have some success identifying strains.

Skunk#1 is pretty distictive, and is still a main part of most commercial "dro" in the US.
White Widow is hard to mistake for anything accept other whites closely related too it.
And Mango smells like a fucking mango!

When It comes to impotado, it can often be sourced by the method of packaging, the cure, and the steminess of the buds.

So some dealers might know.

 

your right, i dont know most of the time (i was slightly high at the time of the last post) but the blueberry i mentioned in another thread i can pretty much verify, ive smoked "blueberry" a few times in completely diff. parts of the country and its been the same high/taste every time, so chances are the "blueberry" is the real stuff, but i definitely have no way to verify the white rhino im gonna get, just gotta trust the kid, whos my friends good friend, i say trust the people until they give you reason not to...

 

i'm sure certain strains you can automatically tell because they have such distinctive characteristics... most kind bud is just that, average bud... but i'm absolutely positive i've seen some other strains that even the dealers will admit they don't know what it is... all they know is that it's much better than the average KB going around. as a part time dealer myself, i know how it is to have to try to sell your product, but at the same time i won't name names just because i don't want to lie to my people. if i'm gonna use any name it'll be "the bubonic chronic..."
