Thanks man. I just heared the "story" of how Justin Beiber ended up with a record deal. He allegedly put a video of himself singing up on youtube some record producer or label executive or some such bullshit saw the video hunted him down and signed him. About the rediculous amount of Autotune on his work now allegedly his voice changed so he now has a hard time singing in tune. This is the type of Garbage that the industry feeds us as truth and has for years. I remember that Vanilla Ice allegedly was a gang member and motocross champion (he later came out and said that was all bullshit that the record company told him to say to sell more records).

Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga to me represent everything that is wrong with the record industry. It is mediocre shit. Neither one of them can sing on key, or dance worth a shit, or from what I've seen of them in interviews form a coherant sentance. They both do have very strong images. To me it is like selling an empty package. I take the train to work every day and I hear exellent talented musicians playing in the subway and on the street that are ass ugly but have more talent than these 2 cunts and they are struggling.

The record industry keeps putting out mediocre shit for one simple reason. Because if they were to start putting out Great music than people woud have something to compare all of this mediocre shit to and the whole thing might collapse. It is a consumer driven business and the people that consume their product aren't interested in quality. If they were the demand for performers like Justin Beiber, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry would go away.

I intern in a recording studio and talk to audio engineers all the time. I came to realise that Aretha Franklin sounds like Aretha Franklin but Beyonce doesn't sound like Beyonce. What that means is that you can take any microphone and put it in front of Aretha Franklin say take one rolling and shit howdy it sounds like a keeper. With Beyonce it goes put up the mic record 50 or so takes edit together a performance, auto tune it, artificially double track it, put reverb on it, multiple delay's on it flange it, compress it, put a little harmonic distortion on it and then it sounds like a keeper.

I'm not so much of a facist to believe that only the top 10 percent of performers deserve a job in the industry but I do believe that these performers should be put where their talents are. Justin Beiber would look perfect in Walmart fliers. Beyonce and Britney Spears should be back up dancers. Lady Gaga should be a costume designer. Katy Perry should be a spokes model. They should all just step aside and give actual talented artists a shot.

Kurt Cobain was a talentless hack. The man couldn't hold together 3 chords or string together a coherant sentance. Anyone on this forum who has been playing guitar for 3 months can already play all of the Nirvana catalog and sound better than the original. He wasn't the fucking genious that the media played him up to be. I just wish he took David Fricke from Rolling Stone with him just for this quote "Kurt Cobain is as this generation is going to have to a John Lennon." I can honestly picture John Lennon walking into a Beatles rehearsal in 1962 going "Hey Paul, I got a new tune it's called Rape Me. We should really record this motherfucker it should be huge."

On top of that I honestly believe Cobain was all image with no substance besides what he was shooting up. Those sad puppydog blue eyes and tattered clothes that made 14 year old panties wet because they just wanted to take him home and take care of him. PFFFT!

Then there was all that bullshit about nobody saw it coming. The man was openly depressed and nearly every song on Nevermind had a gun reference in it and the last song they released was called "I Hate Myself and I want to Die." That was a red flag that even Stevie Wonder could see. How about the fact that he was rushed to the hospital 2 weeks before he shot himself after taking the Hendrix Cocktail (Wine and sleeping pills).

So yes I'll beat up on the poor innocent 16 year old but also see how hard he is getting fucked by the industry. And I'll call Kurt Cobain "The dead guy a dork" (His words about Leo Fender).

and a question, how does sleeping pills and wine harm?
pretty sure i has a glass or two of wine before and took a sleeping pill later on to fall asleep. nothing tremendous to occur.

 

It's called the Hendrix coctail because Hendrix died washing down sleeping pills with wine and couldn't wake up to puke. Also 2 forms of heavy sedatives at the same time can make your heart stop.
