We aren't talking about poverty and crime rates, are we? We're talking about homicide rates and violent crime. You might try
Barry Latzer, The Rise and Fall of Violent Crime in America, showing that at both the macro and micro levels, crime is influenced by a variety of factors often independent of poverty. See also Does Inequality Cause (or Reduce) Crime? Does Poverty Cause Crime? Does investing in education reduce crime? What does reduce crime?

You have that backwards. The reason for excluding third world countries is to avoid skewing the data by an apples and oranges comparison.

Asserting correlations without accompanying statistics is propaganda.

Show us a single peer reviewed study that supports the relationships that you assert.

Prove it. You assert correlations. Show us the r's.

No, but the peer review process is central to scientifically reliable knowledge, as opposed to barnyard tripe and propaganda. Being near a gun is irrelevant to the objective analysis of scientific data. All the gun handling in the world isn't useful in calculating a Pearson's r or doing multiple regression.

What difference does it make? High crime areas produce all of the above.

But yes, the issue is homicide rates.

Those make a good case that it is possible to have a high poverty area with low crime. But they still show that when high crime rates occur they tend to happen among the less affluent. So poverty is still a factor.

They blame culture as the other factor that causes high crime rates when combined with poverty. They don't blame gun availability.

Invalid study. They exclude all nations with high poverty other than the US.

I don't have it backwards. The reason for excluding impoverished countries other than the US is to cherry pick the data so that it produces an unjustified result.

    I provided accompanying statistics.

I don't know if the question of gun availability verses homicide rates between all the nations of the world has ever been addressed by a peer reviewed study.

Here are the homicide stats that Balbus posted here:
Justice Thomas: 2a Won't be Touched
with data on gun availability added from here:
Estimated number of guns per capita by country - Wikipedia
and with Taiwan added for a bit of balance:

    US
    Homicide rate: 5.1
    Gun availability: 101

    Canada
    Homicide rate: 1.6
    Gun availability: 30.8

    England and Wales
    Homicide rate: 0.93
    Gun availability: 6.2

    France
    Homicide rate: 1.2
    Gun availability: 31.2

    Germany
    Homicide rate: 0.8
    Gun availability: 30.3

    Luxembourg
    Homicide rate: 0.8
    Gun availability: 15.3

    Switzerland
    Homicide rate: 0.57
    Gun availability: 24.45

    Taiwan
    Homicide rate: 1.72
    Gun availability: 4.6

And here is some data on high poverty countries:
List of countries by intentional homicide rate by decade - Wikipedia

Estimated number of guns per capita by country - Wikipedia

    Honduras
    Homicide Rate: 86
    Gun ownership rate: 6.2

    Gun ownership rate: 8.1

    Belize
    Homicide Rate: 45
    Gun ownership rate: 10

    Bahamas
    Homicide Rate: 37
    Gun ownership rate: 5.3

    Homicide Rate: 25
    Gun ownership rate: 5.1

    Brazil
    Homicide Rate: 29
    Gun ownership rate: 8

    Columbia
    Homicide Rate: 24.5
    Gun ownership rate: 5.9

    Trinidad and Tobago
    Homicide Rate: 28
    Gun ownership rate: 1.6

    United States

Fess up. You wouldn't know a Pearson's r if it bit you on the ass.

True. I guess I could look it up if I were curious. But I'm not really curious.

The data is pretty clear though, and that's what's important.
