Hey, folks, I've been off-line for 9 days now because,......Thurs evening, I FELL AND BROKE MY RIGHT HIP!! They did surgery on me Friday morning, and I've been in the hospital since then. OH, GOD, THE PAIN! Un-fucking believable! Bruised all my ribs on the right side as well, so essentially couldn't even move in bed. Pain meds didn't do much but barely dull the pain. Of course, they wanted me to move often. Moved me to a rehab hospital yesterday, and the pain, which had gotten better as my ribs healed, is now replaced with new extreme hip and leg pain from the 'therapy' 2-3 hrs a day. Haven't cursed this much in such a short time ever before. Just got my lap-top here to the hosp. I'll probably be here another week and a half. My thinking goes from distracted and dream-like to clarity and trying to find some humor in this. Tired now, so will take a rest for awhile and get back on-line maybe later
Well, this is my first sign-on in a week or so. Things took a bad turn last Wed and Thurs. Something felt different in the bad leg/hip and the pain was different. When my leg started swelling badly I convinced one of the docs something was wrong. Got x-ray and Cat Scan, and sure enough a piece of bone in the hip had shifted and was causing small bleeding in the muscles. So no Physical Therapy on the bad leg til maybe next Wed, and if it's not better I won't get to go home, but will be transferred to another type (longer-term) rehab facility. CRAP! DAMMIT. Meantime I'm working like a mule on my other muscle groups, asking to do more reps or sets. Got to get them as strong as possible in the next week, so if I can go home, I can maneuver around. Telling my leg to heal itself every few minutes, drinking protein drinks twice a day. Only pain is when moving, but then it goes to a 9 out of 10 on the scale. Maybe I can start spending some time back here on Hip, to catch up with things. Good to see the posts keep coming in here.
