A close friend for over a month has been pulling his hair out wondering if the Fukushima incident is going to end up giving him cancer. If anyone can help clear this up, it would be appreciated. I want to calm his nerves. What is the simple truth about Fukushima? Is it going to kill us all? Raise the cancer levels through the roof? Or is it minuscule on the world scale?
Yep, right there is where you need a vacation... Unless you're scared of a little radiation? Everybody gonna die anyway fools My homie friend got fish head with hook hanging out of his lip He don't mind if ya look but don't trip My other homie has a duck head I say "qushch" right back like it was nothin' said You need to come to Fukushima just for a day And feel the radioactive air microwave your brain Siamese twins come grown in five packs! Ninjas be growin' legs out of their back, kicking it!
I've read a lot of things and I really don't know what is true or false. I recently read something saying that there was a US Navy ship that responded right away and now something like 70% of it's crew have cancer. Could be bullshit though.
I found this article that seems reputable. From what I've read so far, 70 sailors on the USS Reagan are suffering from radiation sickness and half of them have cancer. What's incredible to me is that it seems that neither the New York Times nor The Washington Post has covered this story. http://www.theecologist.org/blogs_and_comments/commentators/2211716/fukushimas_cancer_epidemic_the_reality_revealed.html
Yeah I'm sure the radiation levels are increasing. There's ways to protect your body from it, and prevent or reduce the risk of radiation poisoning. Iodine, from what I've heard will help. Radiation levels along the pacific coast shores are skyrocketing. The corporate media, of course, is downplaying the severity of the situation. When it should be informing the public on how to protect themselves and provide info on how the radiation levels affect us.
The powerful realize I think that the truth about nuclear power, if widely known, would lead to the end of the industry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The industry should end... even barring accidents we don't have a clue how to deal with the waste from the nuclear power plants. Just never figured that one out but built them anyways. Stupid humans...
Funniest 'toon I've seen for a while Gongsharman. Lets cut to it,nuke testing in the Pacific back when. Now that seriously fucked up the ocean food chain and is probably responsible for numerous counts of world wide illness's popping up since,we been eating radiation by-products for 50 odd years, now meltdowns like Nuke-ashima with the ability to go global(although mainly in the northern hemisphere) via the Jetstream ,well, thats gotta be cause for alarm. I just can't stop laughing at that 'toon, funny but so true at the same time.
In a perfect world, we would get rid of the nuclear power and the "powerful" people. I wouldn't shed a tear for seeing either disappear.
:2thumbsup: Yeah people tend to forget about that, not much in the media about environmental pollution. Easier to blame the rise in cancer rates on tobacco, or radon, or barbequed meat.
I worked around radiation for a while, and I was trained in it. Though I don't remember jack shit. But I know enough that when I see the videos people put out, I damn near puke. It's propaganda, no idea who it's supposed to hurt or support. Listen, if you are going to seriously monitor radiation, you don't use those little radiation detectors that are the size of a pack of cigarettes. And if you wave this little detector around in front of you, yeah you'll get the area radiation, but you'll also get cosmic radiation. My Geiger-Mueller Counter is a Ludlum 3-6 Survey Meter. Is it better than the little detectors? Well, I did a comparison a couple years back, and it sure did seem those little detectors were far more sensitive. They were getting radiation my GM counter wasn't reading. Until a sample of metatyuyamunite was tested. They didn't pick it up, mine did. Hmmm. Now let's think about some of these websites with the maps. Where does that data come from? Who produces these maps? Why are those maps identical to maps produced BEFORE Fukashima for other reasons...? Then the animals dying off. The eagles that died here in Utah were not killed by radiation like the environmentalists were swearing. West Nile Virus is the culprit. And if the eagles were dying, guaranteed, humans would be dropping like fucking flies. Now let's think about the readings they give from test sites. They give it in Counts Per Minute. That's good. My GM counter does that as well. I don't have the calibration certificate right handy to tell you, however, the comparison between Counts Per Minute and Curies, Becquerels, Coulombs, Grays, and Seiverts. There is a comparison (and the certification I had gave them in Seiverts). You do realize that even a banana is radioactive, right? I think that is 50 or so mSv (milliseiverts). Then let's consider the test sites themselves. Odds are you won't be given the locations, and if you are they will be remote. This prevents verification. I have been monitoring the local radiation where I live and at my home I average 150 CPM average, likely from the coal, and be it further north or further south, it's more like 85 CPM average. It has not changed. When Fukashima happened I was living in a different place. I had been monitoring the radiation then as well. And...no change. Even though the local environmentalists were swearing up and down the fall out had hit and now 3-4x the normal background. Oooook. Ya'll are smoking the wrong batch of weed again, kids. I checked out the detector they were using, and it was an old yellow Civil defense model. Yeah those can be pretty good counters. That one wasn't. It barely picked up my check-source. Which red-lines my GM counter under the same conditions (wand resting on the CS with and without the beta shield in place). Why is that? I have no idea. I'm inclined to think their counter was tampered with and no longer reliable, but hey that's just my opinion. So what is the story about Fukashima? I honestly don't know. We can't trust the media, that's a fact. At the same time I know first hand the environmental crowd has been lying through their teeth. If we can't trust either of them, who can we trust? Only ourselves and verified reliable sources. I'm gonna find the calibration cert for my counter and if not see if I can find a cert'd counter I can compare readings to. If I give you any readings, this is shit I'll stand behind in court if needed. Accuracy is my gig, baby doll!
^I'm going to have to go with Logan on this one. There is probably some sort of cover-up involved, but I'm not convinced it's as extensive as what some people say. And it's easy to say 'shut it down' if you're not responsible for coming up with an alternate power source. On an unrelated note, I think power should be decentralized and the oil industries should be taxed heavily with the funding being rerouted into solar to make high-powered panels and generators more affordable for all. But of course, you can't export solar and you can't control the sun, so there's an obvious economic disadvantage for certain people.
I live on the coast of California and to be honest this makes me a little nervous. It is obvious the plant is still leaking into the Pacific Ocean and to say that there will be no side effects is definitely hiding the truth. I have already swore off fish from the Pacific Ocean cause no one knows for sure that they are no radiated. Nuclear Power and Nuclear Warheads. What the hell was man thinking when he made these? That they would last forever? No foresight, no care about the future. These builders should be held liable. If it is a government, they should be held liable for the deaths and the problems it has caused. Man cant even direct his own step
