Does hot glass give you a suntan like hot metal does?

 

Dunno about tan but if you get close enough to that furnace you can burn your armhairs off. Gloves are dumb and will lower your dexterity.



EDIT- Didnt notice you had those sleeves on. Guess your arm hairs are all good. How long have you been doing this work DV? I did some furnace work a while back and saved up to buy a torch and now I just work out my garage.

 

Not so dumb when you automatically tend to assume any piece of metal that isn't glowing red hot is safe to pick up.

 

I don't need gloves, I don't touch the glass with my fingers Sleeves are mostly to stop the heat, but they are kevlar so if a stray piece of glass tries to fly at my lower arm I am protected.

Furnaces don't give off UV rays 0.o
