Well.. there's this lake in Finland called Bodom-järvi (or the lake Bodom in English). Back in the 70's, four teenagers (two boys and their girlfriends) went camping there and three of them were slaughtered to death by an unknown murderer. The whole crime has been unsolved for decades and there has been several different suspects. Little less than a year ago actually the police arrested the boy who survived because they found some new DNA evidence (after 30 years!!) and now they claim that he's the murderer.
So yea, anyway.. that's how the band got their name. No, I'm not obsessed with it, it's just that Finland is a small country and this has been one of the most horrible crimes in the history of the country and it's been on the news and wherever a lot. And I'm Finnish by the way and have lived there for most of my life, so maybe that explains a bit.

I don't listen heavy metal that much, but bands like Dream Theater and Opeth are just.. beautiful. Their music is so gorgeous AND it's not about playing just a few cords like our little friend Tencent claims. Dream Theater, for example.. well these guys are among the most talented musicians I've ever heard of.
