They represent idealized versions of old school thinking. The problem is, all the money has floated to the top, our constitutional rights have been suspended indefinitely, and old school thinking is killing the country. These are the people who enforce education and other standards, while one in five of their students insists the sun revolves around the earth.
I'd love to do jury duty. "the defendent then jumped in his Toyota camry and..." Irm: Toyota? Give em 20yrs for bad taste.
The UK and Canada represent what America could have been if money had not corrupted even our children. Your turns are coming.
i got stuck serving on a grand jury a few years ago. we had to go in every other week for 4 months, or something like that. luckily, i was just an alternate, so i only had to stay all day twice. but i got way behind on work those two days.
A civil jury seems weird, like, who in their right mind would want just any person to hand down a verdict on anyone's future? It hardly seems fair that Bill the grocery packer can have that much power over somebodies future.
First week in September. I’m hoping I don’t have to take too much time away from work, and I can get half shifts to fit it in with the jury duty. We’ll see if I get through the screening process
I was the foreman of the jury in a case involving two individuals who were fighting at a party and one guy threw the other through a plate glass window. Needless to say the guy who was thrown through the window sustained serious injuries, including a permanent scar across his face. We found the defendant not guilty to the dismay of the victim. They were both drunk out of their gourd and plaintiff more or less fell through the window rather than being pushed.
The dreaded day is this coming Monday. I have heard, that if I say I am a member of HIP, I will get excused. lol
They don't want justice, they want couch potatoes willing to say whatever they want for minimum wage.
It used to be that senior citizens would hang out at the courthouse just to socialize and see what's happening, in the days before radio and television.
