I actually would really like to do it, I think I'd find interesting if the case was good. I don't think I'd actually be the best candidate though with my "well who am I to judge" mentality lol.

Is it for just one case? Like it could be a traffic case and over in an hour then that's its, or does it go all day and you have to sit multiple?

Pretty sure they are all the same in the states. You go to the courthouse and they call 30 or so people in to a courtroom. Ask questions to narrow it down to 12.
I was called for one case and it was a kidnapping and weapons charge but he plea bargained before it went to trial.

When it comes to jury selection, just tell them how you think the twin towers came down. You will be back to work by tuesday ;)

i was on a grand jury for the first part of 2016. we had to report twice a month from january through april, or something like that. luckily, i was the second or third alternate, so i actually only had to stay 3 times; the rest i showed up and got sent home right away.

the highlight of the experience had to be the first day orientation, when they took us to the basement of the sheriff's office and taught us how to make meth for no apparent reason.

^ they said it was because most of the cases were about meth. to be fair, there was more meth than any other crime. but, there were still only a couple meth cases each day, out of 8-12. and, there was only one case in my time there when it actually helped at all to know anything about how it's made.

Not sure how it works but in 2013 I wrote back and requested that I be given a pass on religious grounds, that I don't wish to be made to judge others. Never heard back.

I received a summons this past August, went to the courthouse only to find out that they cancelled it, and they actually tried to notify me by leaving me a voicemail I missed. I skipped across the parking lot to my car (yes I did). Hooray for me! Enjoy yourself, Pressed Rat!

I got called once, but because one of my theater designs was under construction and I had to daily supervise the work they let me off. I was never called again, perhaps because due to the nature of my work they removed me from the system.

Also if you are a lawyer or a police officer. Senior doctors are also exempt and volunteer firefighters are normally removed from the list if they apply for exemption.

We don't do jury's over here. Which i like. Don't want some random bunch of fellow citizens decide my fine, jail time or (lack of) innocence like that.
