Jupiter Ascending Movie Blurb by Shale February 7, 2015 This was a space fantasy movie that opens on a normal Earth, where Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis). is a housekeeper in Chicago. Her exotic name was from her astronomer father. Jupiter at Home in Chicago with Family Unbeknownst to anyone, Earth is just one small planet of many that were seeded millions of years ago by advanced alien overlords who then harvest the dominant species when they reach evolutionary maturity. There is a family of overlords who run this business, the Abrasax siblings Balem (Eddie Redmayne), Titus (Douglas Booth) and Kalique (Tuppence Middleton). Since their mother was murdered they have been squabbling over inherited territory and somehow Jupiter Jones, Earth housekeeper is genetically involved. Someone wants her dead and just as she is about to be killed by a bunch of ugly aliens, she is rescued by this well-equipped warrior (with hi-tech weapons - what did you think I meant?) Caine Wise (Channing Tatum). Caine has spliced human/wolf genes - seems advanced genetic engineering was created here. Caine Wise From here it is one battle after another across the universe trying to keep Jupiter alive while the ruling family tries to use her to enhance their claims. Jupiter, with the help of Caine quickly learns how to survive in a bizarre alien world. Caine & Jupiter There are allies who join Caine such as Stinger Apini (Sean Bean) who also lives on earth. He was spliced with bee genes and was once a warrior with Caine. After they resolve some old differences they join forces to help Jupiter Jones. Caine, Stinger, Jupiter and Allies This movie got approval from less than a quarter of the aggregate critics and was liked by half the audiences. I saw it in 3-D because that was the only version playing in the matinee time frame. It cost $3.50 more that I would have rather not paid, but the whole movie is all about the visuals so it was OK. (one piece of flying debris actually made me jump).. There was little explanation of who the various characters were so I felt kind of lost getting into the movie. Eventually you get a picture of what is going on, but until then you vaguely know what is going on. Of course you see Jupiter and Caine falling for each other from the start. It is not Guardians of the Galaxy, but it was OK.
