These fucking statists will continue to produce laws based on their warped religious agenda. The best thing to do is protest or get the hell out...I'm thinking of the latter myself. America was at a turning point in the late 70s, but the CONSERVATIVE bullshit agenda took over and when Clinton got in, he DIDN'T DO A GODDAMNED THING. He continued the same policies, and the same Drug War. He was a hypocrite and an asshole and I am shocked at the people who actually think he was any damn different than the Republicans and conservative Democrats. Republicans and Democrats = SAME OLD MOB America is going to the fascists.
you said it about bill. I dont know why he has so many "liberal" fans. Hillary is worse though. I dont know what im gonna do when she gets nominated in '08. And megara, you right, the goal of church state sepation is to keep a religious figure from making laws. Without it, thats where we will be. And it is what the christian right wants. for the record, you do have your freedom of religion, and its not going anywhere. Id just like to keep my freedom from religion too. did anyone else see sandra day's quote on john roberts? I'll paraphrase to the best of my memory: first there various complements on Roberts and how non-devisive he is as a nominee. then "hes perfect, except he's not a woman." as i said, parphrased, poorly. but it made me chuckle and raise one eyebrow peace
Becareful using words like "christian right' and 'religious right.' Thats a dangerous stereotype. There are some who want to undo separation of church and state, not everyone is like that.
not a stereotype, a real group and movement. check out what Focus On the Family and the dozens of other similar groups have to say.
Though Roberts catagorizes himself and is catagorized as a conservative, his philosophy is that the court should be "modest" in its assertions; ie, it should take into account many factors when making its decisions, including and especially precedent, whether or not the issue was decided in a conservative or liberal manner. This indicates that he would not automatically take a typical conservative stance on issues that have been resolved in the past. Roberts has stated many times that precedents should only be overturned in specific circumstances -- for example, when society has changed so much that the old decision no longer makes sense. In this, Roberts seems too reasonable and logical to take any drastic conservative action on overturning precedents, Roe v. Wade or otherwise.
