All the military does nowadays is perpetuate its own existence by supporting and engaging in wars that are totally unjustified, and that are all about power and profit.

Be a 'real man' and support peace, and stay out of the fucking military-today's military is protecting absolutely nobody, and is doing this country and the world at large a lot more harm than good.

They say that you could do this job or that job and you might get to do that job, however if you don't have it in your contract from the get go then you will end up in whatever job they want you to be in with zero input from you.
However no matter what cool counding job you get, at the end of the day you are a solder and you can be sent in to combat as a rifleman, esp. in the marines.
Many of the jobs in themilitary offer very little(if any) training you can use outside the military. Even those in electronics and such woun't help you in the real world. Dont count on your GI bill to help you in school as accouding to the VA's own numbers around 6% of vetrins will actualy get a degree.

Very few jobs offer any difference in pay and most of those jobs are restrictd to offercers (mostly the medical feild).

Sounds nice...mayby they will but you in the barrics with the pool at the beach too.
Many in combat will never see that 2 weeks if if tehy do, it will not be at home (most likley not even in the states.)
Also many units are not getting the required time between deployments, thus causing tehn not to be able to recoup or repain equiipment, which is a leading cause of most of the accidents over there. Some units are going for tours longer tehn normal (as a marine you can expect 12 month tours, not the 7 your told about) with very little time between that and your next tour.

As befor you write me off as someone how don't know what I'm Talking about: I was in the Airforce, a vet of both Iraq and Afghanistan. I saw the broken promices myself.

Get out befor it's to late: http://www.objector.org/

haha, that's hilarious. My Grandpa was an AT and made an awesome living when he got out. My fiancee is also an AT and is getting out and has awesome posibilities. My friend's husband was in the marines and worked in electronics and now makes 6 figures and he doesn't have a college degree even.
As far as the GI bill goes. My mom got an AA in engineering with it and still had enough to go on and get a BA later on.

The marines I am currently working with recently got back from their 7 month deployment to Iraq. I work with a lot of marines from a lot of squadrons on a regular basis, and they all deployed to Iraq for 7 months.

I have known a number of ATs and they have never made an 'awesom' living. Also everyone in electronice (myself included) makes 6 figures a year (and general non-vets make 10-20% more)

    To quote one website:
Besides that... I was in the military. I was fucked over on my GI bill several times, I was fucked on my VA benefits so I was left to shoulder the medical bills related to my service in the military. I am not alone either.

Army Times (a mag published the the US Army themselves) reports that over 50,000 unemployed veterans are on the waiting list for the military's "retraining" program. The VA estimates that 1/3 of homeless people are vets. Also VA projections say that within only a few years around 50% of all homeless people will be vets with over 1/2 of them from Iraq.

I will stand corrected. MY 6$% number for the GI bill was wrong. I re-checked the number and it's 15%. My mistake.

    A final quote:
PS: A little dated but a good article from Army Times:

What certifications do you have? You must have a shit load of them if at 23 you are making 6 figures. What exactly do you work on? My friend who makes 6 figures was in the marines for 8 years and got an AA with his GI to be able to make that much so more power to you if you did it without all of that. ;)
I have a friend who was in the marines and got PTSD and developed a drinking habit because of it. He ended up getting a lawyer and getting benefits and his DD changed to an HD.
HOw were you fucked over on your GI bill and benefits? Have you filed a claim?
