Eh.... I scored pretty high on the ASVAB and was able to choose a combat MOS. Fuck anything else, yo, combat's where the men go.

In my opinion, even if you don't agree with who is in office you should still join if you really want to. The President won't be President forever. My dad hated Clinton yet he stayed under him to wait for, as he put it, better times.

To ease my conscience in case Obama or Kucinich or Paul wins I tell myself that I'm serving the country, not the President.... but really I just want to go to Iraq with a rifle and get to shoot terrorists and blow shit up. Is that bad?

 

Uhm I have a couple thousand posts...I am obviously not a troll. i am just really tired of men blabbing about things they have no idea about, but think they have an idea about just because they are men.

 

I disagree. I think if you are smart you need to utilize that to best serve your country. My fiancee does something complicated with electronics that I don't really understand...My degree's in Liberal Arts so I really don't have the brain capacity to understand what he talks about. But anywho, my point is that he is highly intelligent and I think our country is lucky to be able to tap into his brain power.

 

The problem with that is I just cant stomach taking orders from a man who violates the geneva convention and circumvents the constitution by storing men like cattle on an offshore base. It would make me feel like I'm contributing to his war crimes. Don't get me wrong, I don't feel that the men over there are contributing to his war crimes, its more of a personal ethics issue. If I joined under him and ended up in Afghanistan and was ordered to detain enemy combatants that i knew would be held in gitmo without trial or legal representation or the protections of the geneva convention I'd end up being court marshaled for disobeying the orders. The way I see it everyone should be afforded the protections of the geneva convention, its basic human rights, even for scumsucking terrorists. Those terrorists may not respect the geneva convention, but I do and if I were to contribute to its violation I'd feel that I was just as bad as they are. Again, dont get me wrong, I'm not saying the men over there are just as bad as the terrorists, I think just the opposite and respect them for what they do. Its the man at the top who I feel is a terrorist himself. By and large those serving in the armed services are 24-karat gold. But the way i see it what good is an honest soldier if he can be ordered to behave like a terrorist by a terrorist?

And what about Hillary? Obama doesn't stand a chance against her. We've got too many backwards hicks in this country that are only going to see that he has black skin and his name rhymes with osama and won't bother to look at his stance on the issues.

It is definatly true that we couldn't accomplish anything without the men keeping our technology up and running. Without them we'd still be navigating with a compass, droping bombs out of byplanes, and walking to bagdhad. I'd just prefer to be out there with my rifle holding down the fort so to speak. I guess the above statement is just a macho bravado kind of thing, we are male afterall.
