The Doors STONED IMMACULATE lyrics

I'll tell you this...
No eternal reward will forgive us now
For wasting the dawn.

Back in those days everything was simpler and more confused
One summer night, going to the pier
I ran into two young girls
The blonde one was called Freedom
The dark one, Enterprise
We talked and they told me this story
Now listen to this...
I'll tell you about Texas radio and the big beat
Soft driven, slow and mad like some new language

Reaching your head with the cold, sudden fury of a divine messenger
Let me tell you about heartache and the loss of god
Wandering, wandering in hopless night
Out here in the perimeter there are no stars

Out here we is stoned
Immaculate.

THE END
Ride the snake, ride the snake
To the lake, the ancient lake, baby
The snake is long, seven miles
Ride the snake...he's old, and his skin is cold

The west is the best
The west is the best
Get here, and we'll do the rest

The blue bus is callin' us
The blue bus is callin' us
Driver, where you taken' us

written to create a visual when under the influence
most would not understand unless their mind itself is opened
it creates an image in your mind that is uniquely your own
you may have your opinon of course everyone is
completely entitled to at leasy that but do not blindly
condemn the work and pasions of others without the an arguement that is itself above a 3rd grade level by just saying ..."he sucks"

poetry is a form of expression of emotion and thought thats what we did thats what he wrote you put poetry in quotaions as if you question its validity as poetry ............if poetry is expression....and thats how he expressed himself...... then goddamn right that is poetry if you regaurd some emo crying "i lost my girlfriend cus im skinny as a toothpick i think ill cry in a corner" genre as poetry you should probably take a good look at yourself and get a reality check we all see things in different ways i see him as a poet who conveys worlds, thoughts, and images through text you see him as juvinile and i couldnt care less yet i defend my opinion

You just quoted my very favorite..
I totally get his poetry, you really have to make it your own. He is the arguably the ultimate poet. He definately had his downfalls. He was so childlike he was untolerable at times, according to what I've read. On the brink of insanity. How else could you come up with such unbelievably strange thoughts. ANYWAY..there will never be another lizard king. :)

That is definitely one of his better works.

Haha... okay, okay, I might've been a little harsh. You got me there. :D However, to say he is god/the most talented person to ever live is still completely fucking ridiculous.

Is this supposed to be an example of his supposed incredible poetry skills? "The End" is a good song, creepy music and all, however some of the lyrics (including the ones you quoted :p ) are laughable.

I'm not sure I understood you... are you saying one would only understand his poems when high/under the influence of drugs?

okay :D I don't mean to pick onyou or anything :D

Those are my favourites :) :

Come
for all the world lies
hushed & fallen
green ships dangle
on the surface of
Ocean, & sky-birds
glide smugly among
the planes
Gaunt crippled houses
Strangle the cliffs
In the East, in the cities
a hum of life
begins, now come

*

For those people who died
for Nirvana
for the heavenly creed
for you, for me

These lines are written
to convey the message
To ignore the warning
To spree upward into
Tantalizing voices
To visit under-seas
Believe
Things more horrible
than war
Things out of the tales
Great beasts
Suffering extinction

*

I fell on the earth
& raped the snow
I got married to life
& breathed w/my marrow
I saw young dancers
I am meat & need fuel
Need the whorey glimmer of tears
in women, all ages
Laughter sandwich, fuel
for the lunch of meat minds
Now damn you, dance
Now dance
or die sleek & fat in your
reeking seats, still
buckled for flight

*

The Endless quest a vigil
of watchtowers and fortresses
against the sea and time.
Have they won? Perhaps.
They still stand and in
their silent rooms still wander
the souls of the dead,
who keep their watch on the living.
Soon enough we shall join them.
Soon enough we shall walk
the walls of time. We shall
miss nothing
except each other.

*

Midnight
criminal metabolism of guilt forest
Rattlesnakes whistles castanets

Remove me from this hall of mirrors
This filthy glass

Are you her
Do you look like that
How could you be when
no one ever could

*

I am troubled
Immeasurably
By your eyes

I am struck
By the feather
of your soft
Reply

The sound of glass
Speaks quick
Disdain

And conceals
What your eyes fight
To explain

*

And I came to you
for peace
And I came to you
for gold
And I came to you
for lies
And you gve me fever
& wisdom
& cries
of sorrow
& we'll be here
the next day
the next day
&
Tomorrow

*

Accomplishments:

To make works in the face
of the void
To gain form, identity
To rise from the herd-crowd

Public favor
Public fervor

even the bitter Poet-Madman is
a clown
Treading the boards

*

Whether to be a
great cagey perfumed
beast
dying under the
sweet patronage
of Kings
& exist like luxuriant
flowers beneath the
emblems of their
Strange empire
or by mere insouciant
faith
slap them, call their cards
spit on fate & cast hell
to flames in usury

by dying, nobly
we could exist like
innocent trolls
propogate our revels
& give the finger to the
gods in our private
bedrooms

let's rather, maybe,
perhaps,
get fucking out in
the open, & by
swelling, jubilantly
Magnificently, end them.

*

A vast radiant beach & a cool
jewelled moon. Couples naked
race down by its quiet side &
we laugh like soft mad children,
smug in the wooly cotton brains
of infancy.

The music & voices are all around us.

Choose, They croon
The ancient ones
The time has come again
Choose now, They croon
Beneath the moon
Beside an ancient lake

Enter again the sweet forest
Enter the hot dream, come w/us.
Everything is broken up
& dances

*

Why does my mind circle around you
Why do planets wonder what it
Would be like to be you

All your soft wild promises were words
Birds, endlessly in flight

Your dog is still lost in the frozen woods
or he would run to you
How can he run to you
Lunging w/blooded sickness on the snow
He's still sniffing gates & searching
Strangers for your smell
which he remembers very well

Is there a moon in your window
Is madness laughing
Can you still run down beach
rocks bed below w/out him?

in regaurd to the end the lyrics are juvinile but so is every human on the verge of death personnally i think the song actually does make more sense when you are high its not meant to be elaborate its to the piont not meant to provoke thought but yet only an image basicly( a cool landscae that would be pretty neato to be in)
he is/was talented at times but he destroyed himself and it showed.
however my initial statement was not that he was the most talented but that he is one of my idols, not for all the drugs and being fucked up 99 percent of the time but that he took a stand against the entire united states government and itsfundamental conformist tendancies....he had that courage to be exactly who he wanted to and that is why he is my god
