i love you guys! i really do. you prove my obvious point as to put a fine edge on it. "God" is this so behaves like that because "he" feels such and such. we humans, we barely evolved primates, are amusing as we are amazing in our presumptuous egos, individual and collective. we mill around on our tiny planet, a tiny planet among billions of tiny planets in a universe incomprehensible in it's complexities and hugeness, a universes of which we've glimsped only an infinitesimal fraction but we ... yes ... we, the humans of Earth know what "God" is. we know that "God" is a he (of course)and he looks like us (of course) and has emotions like us (of course). we even know his name ... Jesus ... or maybe it's Krishna or is it Quetzalcoatl? or is it Zeus or Odin ... Qa'wadiliquala maybe? oh! i know! Ra is his name. no wait ... it's Apap! hmmm naw ... it's Alatangana. or Jesus. yeah, it's Jesus. right. uh huh. Whatever. hehehe! gotta chuckle. we humans are clever little (nearly) hairless apes but we ain't as clever as we think we are, surely not clever enough to know what we're talking about when we talk about "God".
I think we need to back of on knowing WHO God is and What God is. No one can comprehend someone of such magnificance and power to have created the stars and the planet out of nothing - and no - I don't know where God came from either. To make firm declarations of who God is - is giving us credit for far more knowledge than we have. I appreciate what White Horse had to say - He and I worship the same God. But to understand Gods purposes and ways is conceited beyond all reason. In my estimation - Jesus is one with God. But I'm not sure that the virgin birth is perhaps just a way for us to vaguely understand the person of Jesus. We can only understand what we can understand and I think God makes it as simple (and complicated) as possible. He gives us what we can understand. We can't assume that we understand God's ways with ANY degree of real clarity. I try to lay off firm declarations of what we need to do, who we need to follow and how we need to do both.
I dont want to start any blasphemous rumours But I think that gods got a sick sense of humor And when I die I expect to find him laughing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muziKxIyh5g&feature=related
ah but you assume that "God" is a someone, a "he" someone "who" has "purposes" and "ways". human perceptions because humans have genders, purposes and ways, which is how and why we humans create deities ... like Jesus. he's your human symbol of your human god. don't get me wrong tho, you can imagine "God" to be any way and anyone you like. i just don't grasp how you can make statements like "Jesus is one with God" when you can't possibly know what the statement means, especially what it might mean to Jesus. it would be, after all, his oneness with "God", not yours. any concepts you might have of such a oneness would be entirely based in the imaginary.
I don't think we are too far off each other. I fully realize that in order to conceptionalize God we must first create an idea of the diety in our brain. We must have a concept of some sort in order to discuss or you are discussing nothing. I do believe, in my miniscule way, that Jesus is one with God. I am not sure that at some point we will all be one with God. Jesus just got there much sooner. Got to go - Perhaps we can chat later. Dudley
Back in the day I met some people that called themselves "Jesus Freaks". Not the Jesus Freaks you hear about nowadays. These people were long haired hippie freaks that believed that Jesus was the original hippie. They smoked but no hard drugs. Lived off the land. Great people. We should all be doing that...
well, gee. no. i won't "just shut the fuck up". you can scroll past my posts if you like tho. i'm hoping that Ddoright will be back so he and i can discuss different ways of approaching the "God" topic. he seems like a civil person with which to have such discourse so you might want to get ready to scroll scroll scroll on by.
i admit that i sometimes miss my Jesus construct. i have a vivid imagination so he was a very complex and convincing mental creation. he kept me company and made me feel soul safe. i'd like it if you would describe your Jesus to me, if doing so doesn't violate some inner sacred place. and could you please try to explain to me what you mean when you say "one with God"?
"Hippy"= A lot of hips, or "that girl has huge hips...she is rather hippy" "Hippie" is what you're looking for here.
Will do dormouse. It might be a day or two before I can sit down and write. Perhaps another thread or a PM so we don't hi-jack this thread. Interesting. bty - people can sure get bent in a hurry around here. "Jesus was not A hippy - He was The hippy. I am (or was) A hippie"eace:.
great. yes, in order to avoid being highjackers let's start another thread starting with your personal rendition of Jesus. maybe other folks would like to join in and be creative in describing their "God" image. and if folks are feeling really adventurous they could try to express how they came to believe in their "God" image. to me such thought processes are fascinating. my Jesus construct was definately a hippy. only natural since i was one of those hippy Jesus Freaks. in my mind's eye he was the typical Renaisance era portrait of Jesus but he smiled and laughed a lot more than ever was portrayed in those paintings. and instead of flowing robes he wore blue jeans and a clean white t-shirt. and he had a dog. he and i would spend hours together talking of celestial things while sitting by a small campfire in the forest of my mind. yeah, i do miss him sometimes. PS. i'll watch for your post.
yeh and some just let it show alot more than others we r the open minded ones in this world like jesus himself
hey man i can digg it, jesus was a hippie, that cat was a far out herb smokin, happy hippie brother, digg it
Hippy is nothing more than a descriptive term that is has been used since the '60s. There were hippies before that through out the ages with different handles. I'm sure in Jesus day their was a word for those who lived his lifestyle - today it is hippy.
