By the way, JQ, I have nothing against you or what you believe, but it is very hard, from my studies of religion and understanding of some of the social theories surrounding it, that it is hard to form a religion or religious system around personal experience. Not only is it hard to form one, but it is hard for a religion to even exist individually. If you do not have a Church (that is to say, a social collective community) then you do not have religion, you have personal preference and personal morals, and personal beliefs.

A larger religion, which you seem to say we should join/espouse/believe in/whatever, requires a social consciousness where the group can think and act like one mind. When you say we should look into ourselves because you did and it works for you, there are too many variables. What is it that you were looking for to begin with? did you find something different? Did what you find challenge you? Did what you find confirm what was already believed?

 

I don't say look within yourself because it worked for me. I say look within yourself because obviously asking everyone else for the answers isn't working for you as it never works for anyone else either. And I know I'm not religions, what does that have to do with anything. Do they really teach y'all people in the Ukraine that in order to believe in God, they have to be religious? That is complete bullshit.

I understand how society and media have kept people stupid over the years to the point human beings still believe they have to see something with their physical eye to believe it when you believe shit you haven't seen all the time. But for some reason to believe there is a higher power responsible for all the phenomena that occurs within our Universe is wrong. Like I said, I know stupidity is drilled in peoples heads their whole lives. Maybe that will explain why so many of you are asking other people for the same Truth you are capable of finding out for yourself.

So if I used you method, to come to the conclusion that the bible is awesome and that I should follow it, would you say that it was then a genuine conclusion? Or do I need to come to the same conclusions as you?

I did find out for myself by the way. I started studying religions (on my own, and in secrecy) in high school and was only baptized in my third year of university after graduation. I didn't have this drilled into me. I chose something different from all of the people in my life (Roman Catholicism).

BTW--I am not from or living in Ukraine. It stands for Ukrainian-Canadian (my Dido is from Ukraine and my Baba's Dido too). But that was a simple mistake.

 

I wouldn't say Satan. I maybe would say that he thinks he knows what is best for everyone (like some people, including myself, are sometimes guilty of when it comes to say homeless people--we think we know what they want).

I just honestly don't know what pleasure people get coming into here and trying to convert people away from Christianity, or away from organized religion, or away from theism, or away from... I get my pleasure from just taking and learning from other people (and the occasional heated discussion with you, OWB, et cetera).

That is not to say I have not been apologetic, but I try not to instigate.

 

I don't try to convert anyone to anything. I just speak the Truth the way I see it. I don't try to force people to believe what I believe, I simply debate my stance on things.

I only came to these forums because my cousin showed me some interesting topics here. I wasn't browsing for boards to spread my beliefs on.

Lastly, satan doesn't exist. Satan is a fictional character created by religion to symbolize an entity responsible for all the evil in the world. What people fail to realize is evil doesn't exist outside the human mind and the things it affects with its negativity. There is absolutely no other known place in the entire Universe where evil exists.

 

I do believe demons hunts us and work to have us fall to temptation now am not saying JQ is demon possessed.

Now i personally Don't think his coming in here to tell us whats right and whats best for everyone but just wants us to be more open minded about outside influences but when you got the Bible i notice every other "self-help" book is garbage.

Far as I know, Satan was made up by religion. If I'm wrong, I stand corrected. What I do know is Satan was made up by a human being and for some reason doesn't appear to affect anything but human beings but people who believe in God whether spiritual, religious, or both will tell you God is everywhere.

Satan is a figment of peoples imaginations.

Funny how people influenced by religion (particularly the Bible) seem to be the main ones who have contact with demons though.

I've seen and done a lot of evil in my 27 years and I've only been in contact with the loving God and have no reason whatsoever to believe in demons. The only people I know personally that claim to have experience with demons are those that believe in the Bible.

Well, despite belief, people have been hearing voices in their heads to kill with no known source.

It can be a 'brain mix-up', but then why would it sound like clear words and not a bunch of odd sounds? Why a clear instruction? Can it be some sort of fallback from the reptilian side of our brains? I dunno, but what I know is, when I hear on the news of someone murdering because they heard a voice in their heads to kill specific people... I really don't know what to think at that point other than consider the possibility that an external force is instructing these already distressed individuals to carry out specific instructions.

Psychological condition? I guess, but what condition would that be exactly?

All I know is that it is odd.

Anyway, the concept of Satan is more complex than what I mention.
