There are 2 A-Bomb Memorials in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I've been both places. very touched, I was not able to move for a while standing in front of the pictures of the victims...there was a wooden wall and I saw the black spot shaped like a human standing....the writing says, its a shadow of a boy, he was standing against the wooden wall at the moment when the A-Bomb was dropped. The A-Bomb emitted the strongest light of radioactivity, so momentary his shadow was burned onto the wall...eventually like you come to sense, the boy died. Whenever I hear the visitors from overseas outside Japan come to The A-Bomb Memorials, I'm so glad and at the same time I would like everyone to know how the peace is important to save ourselve and the earth. As Japan is the only and (hopefully) the last A-Bomb victim country, I think we should appeal to the whole world about the PEACE. Well, I prefer Sailor Moon Manga to Anime as well. Hello Kitty-chan has lots variations of her costumes anyways. All of them look so cutie!
Moonshyne's a total otaku......I like anime too, eventhough I'm not an otaku. I know japanese though ( I've got books about it an CD tutorials....etc...), I'm working on an online manga, it's called 'tatsuran' (Fabulous Dragonbird) yeah, I love dragons, and the word ryuu (as you can see *points at sig*). Anyways I saw pictures from japan though, it's....so different from Europe and America (eventhough those tw are already two different worlds....), they've got these vending machines in the street corners that sell EVERYTHING (and I do mean *everything*), they've got these love hotels, weird signs infront of the subway, Police thingys every two miles or so, and their toilets look different too, am I missing anything? Also their whole social manners are TOTALLY different....it'd take up a whole book to write the manners. I'll go to japan some day....after I go to greece! ^_~ Tat: I always thought there was still a little radio activity going on...or am I mistaken? Do tell....Pwease????
"Moonshyne's a total otaku...." Ha! I'm not THAT bad I just like cute things, and Japan has TONS of cute stuff. I love the fact that they even go through the trouble of putting such nice, happy (but sometimes odd) messages on stuff like tissue boxes and such, and you don't get that here in the US.
Japan is a hip place. I spent 6 weeks with a host family over one summer in high school. They were really cool people, they lived out side of Tokyo. I spent another 5 weeks in Japan 2 summers ago. I visited them, and traveled around. I'm hoping to go back this summer. I really want to visit Kyushu, I've heard that it's really nice. It kind of sucks, I used to take Japanese in school, but I transfered schools and the university I'm at now doesn't offer higher level classes, so I really don't get enough practice with the language.
I miss Japan!... <whistful sigh> I lived there for a year and a half. At first I was working for the Daily Yomiuri and when that job ended (it was a short-term contract) I taught english (of course). I really really really miss it. I didn't learn to speak much Japanese but I learned to read katakana and hiragana. The hiragana didn't do me much good cuz I didn't know the meanings but the katakana did world's of good - especially at the supermarket! I am one of the few gajin that truly loved natto. Really. I didn't at first but I tried it a few times and got a taste for it. I still buy it here sometimes when I see it. It's good to see others having great Japanese experiences. Cya Saje
Hey Saja, you would live long cuz you eat Natto ;-) Naturally Natto is the only one food that contains blood purifying substance.[/QUOTE] Tat, that may be true. I've heard though of many foods that are supposed to be blood purifying. Either way I know it's good for me and I like it. Saje
Natto?? I've brought up most life in Japan and am Japanese. I think Natto is OK, and I can eat it, however, I wouldn't want to buy one. Anyone tried "Umeboshi" as well? it's real sour red plum!
