It's been twelve years, and Encyclopedia Brittanica tells me "Nobody died as a direct result of the Fukushima nuclear disaster. However, in 2018 one worker in charge of measuring radiation at the plant died of lung cancer caused by radiation exposure."

Here's a really interesting article about "energy deathprints":

How Deadly Is Your Kilowatt? We Rank The Killer Energy Sources

Apparently, when workers install solar panels on a roof, fatal falls are common enough to make deaths-per-kilowatt-hour 4.9 times greater than the global nuclear industry, and 4400 times higher than the U.S. nuclear industry.

The stupidity of the whole event makes my blood boil. A nuclear power station that was fully operational, unable to pump cooling water to the reactors when the national grid went down.
Are the people who design these plants total morons.
A delta star coupling transformer on each alternator connected to a common busbar system, would have prevented the entire incident and is maintenance free.
