Piece of My Heart hands down is my favorite, likely becuse it was the first i ever heard.

 

"Work Me Lord" is soul-wrenching, one of my faves.

 

either "Little Girl Blue" or "Kozmic Blues" (both from the 1969 album "Kozmic Blues". these are both the two most depressing Janis Joplin songs.

Janis does a guest appearance with the Dead on a bootleg from early on. Lovelight is the tune, done well. I dig that one, its got a fun scene and they are enjoying themselves with the lyrics.

 

Janis used to screw Pigpen from the Dead. I think she was an overrated, marginally talented alcoholic who, if she hadn't of OD'd, would be now a lost, clueless babe.

 

janis sometimes got so depressed she coudn't take it no more.

Yes, Goofydrummer, I almost forgot that gem of a song.

I like to sing that one on stage, really fun to belt it out!

 

Summetime, one of the best songs of the world! and work me lord( live at woodstock) better than the normal version

As for overrated, Janis was many things, but never overrated. Perhaps you should look beyond what people say about her, and a bit more of what she did for herself.
