I love J.R.R. Tolkein! It is so amazing that someone could be so dedicated to their writing...to create their own languages, maps and worlds. You don't really see that kind of passion in contemporary writers...Tolkein will always be one of my favorites!
The reason for the delay is that the rights for The Hobbit are owned by both New line and another company (Sony/Columbia mabye???). Peter Jackson is going to wait for the court battle till he starts that one and he is also signed up for another 4-5 films so he said it will be at least 5 years until he starts on it if ever . But Tolkien is the greatest writer. How many other writers are commited enough to create flawless (well nearly:& ) histories to acompany their tales. 3 entire languages! A dozen or so dialects! Maps! Family trees! Not to mention the utterly inspiring nature of the stories. The timelessness due to his integrity in not making the tales allegorical. There is always darkness to overcome, so the stories always touch and give hope. Auta i lome! - the night is passing!
