I got Two Silver Medals for Running...Damn Stupid Lyndsey...could Never Beat Her... Yeah...I Liked being 16...
It's awesome that you've done half-marathons. One of my goals is to be a marathoner, and I know it's something I can definitely do. I ran in high school and college, and I enjoyed it a lot. But my problem has finding motivation to work out. I have the motivation, but not enough of it. Has doing half-marathons been difficult for you?
I've done 4 half marathons and they're fun. A full one seems like it would be overkill. I always thought people on these forums were of the mindset of oldhippie, with the his overused quote about running only if he was chased. Anyways it's refreshing to know some people actually get enjoyment from running etc.... Lance Armstrong: Once someone asked me what pleasure I got out of riding my bike for so long. "Pleasure?" I asked. "I don't understand the question. I didn't do it for pleasure. I did it for pain".
No, really I've never had difficulty with distance running. I prefer it to short distances. My usual run is about 7 miles, but long runs can be about 10. I really enjoyed the halves, very relaxed pace, about 8 minute miles. I love long runs out in the country too, just enjoying the scenery. Endurance has always come easily for me. Even after taking a couple months off, I can go run 8 miles w/no problems. In the winter I nordic ski, so that saves the joints a bit. Rest is important, I always take a couple days off a week, maybe just go biking or something, or nothing. Me too. I posted a number of running threads in the old forums a couple yrs. ago and they mostly went without a reply. I'm pleased with these results, it is refreshing! A splendid change.
