I called him a jerk. There were far worse things I could have called him but I don't like using that kind of laungage.

Oh so now it's "just a slap".

The title of the thread is "Its not wrong to beat your wife".

    You have problems, man.

also i have read many of your posts about your family life and i do not mean to suggest your husband would actually do what i am about to state in the following hypothetical so please do not take it personal. if your husband were ever to abuse one of your children would you not physically assault him or atleast have the urge to. i do not mean a spanking or to thump their hand. i mean if he were to place one of their tiny precious hands on an oven burner. tell me then your thought would not change.

    Pfffffftttt. What a joke.

Well girls, we're back in 1950 here. Next thing he's gonna say is we belong barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen.

And in marriage vows, men also promise to love, cherish, and obey. I don't think slapping or beating constitutes loving or cherishing someone...

Well, my husband would not do something like that, but if God forbid he did, I'd take my children and leave, have his butt put in jail. Nobody hurts my babies.

I wouldn't bother getting abusive with him because for one, he is bigger and stronger than I am, and two, I would not want my children to witness anything like that.

Indescribability is the only person here with enough sense to look at this with an open mind. What if your wife came home drunk and pissed herself? Surely some form of punishment is required in this case. I dont advocate maiming or punching but a cuff round the ears goes a long way.

I really like how there are no male replies except for Liam and Indecribability or however his username is spelled.

Frankly, I believe that domestic violence, whether towards a man or a woman is wrong. Liam, you said that "you punish a child, why not your wife?" Reason numero uno is that a child has no forethought, no ability to make "right" decisions, and by punishment you mean 'beating' then there is something wrong. We punish children appropriately to teach them.

As for spousal beating (I won't deny that there are a faire share of man beaters) its wrong. Would you beat yourself? Do unto others as they would to you - thats my motto.

What if you came home drunk and pissed yourself? Is your wife allowed to beat you?

i would not have a problem with a spouse being stronger than i nor would my kids see the act take place, but i would beat that bitch within an inch of her life due the the hypothetical stated above.

I'm thinking he is simply trying to get us riled up, which is exactly what's happening. I'd hate to think that there are really people out there like this, but then again, I know there are.

If she came home drunk and pissed herself, wouldn't she suffer the consequences she might put upon herself? She wouldn't need your help. She's your wife, not your child. I can't believe this guy. It just keeps getting better and better

Pool Shark, you contradict yourself, when you say a child gets punished for not having forethought, yet a woman who knows better goes unpunished?

That's the truely sick part. That's why there are so many children out there lost and misguided because they grew up with men who would beat there mothers (or vice versa). Our society is fucked up enough without the help of men who think it's OK to lay their hands on women who are smaller and who almost never fight back. I guess it makes them feel bigger and better. These were probably the same people who used to steal lunch money from the geeky kids in elementary school.

    GROW UP!

But violence solves what exactly? It is merely an unhealthy outlet to take out aggression that cannot be contained at a certain point in time. Does it solve anything really? It might make you think you feel better for a brief moment, however, can you really find peace in such an act?

Or are you an "eye for an eye" type of person?
