That is the problem with the political system, nothing is allowed to change overnight. This a very convenient retardation that allows the scum in power to continue deceiving us, and controlling us.

Fuck them all, I tell ya.

what exactly are you referring to? wars? i think for the most part it's defence. the two world wars for instance were not instigated by us....if we hadn't defended ourselves from invasion this country we be very different indeed. infact half of us probably wouldn't even be here to argue this point at all. my hairs brown, not blonde. :(

it would be impossible, to lets say, erase all our debts over night and make out planet turn back from the peak of disaster over night. no human being is powerful enough to right these things in a day, it's all about progress, realising what needs to happen and setting about doing it. it's not realistic to think everything can just be sorted out just like that, if it could be, it would have been.

    I like blondes:D

    And brunettes.

So we didn't invade Iraq at the start of the first world war then?

Look at the place now, it's not a very peaceful, prosperous country is it.

    What debts?

I don't owe the world bank anything, and anything they take from me via my corrupt government I consider to be theft.

the debt that our country is in to other countries etc. it just can't be eradicated over night (As nice as that would be).

i don't know about the first time of invasion in Iraq, all i know is since 2003 when our troops were sent over there to what the country is like now, it is stable and the Iraqi forces have been trained to keep stability and maintain there countrys laws. i'm incredibly proud of not just my hubby but all the troops who helped to train those Iraqi pilots, air traffic controllers, police and infantry to help there country and turn it round for the better. we are withdrawing now anyway, my chaps there now packin up kit to come home, and leaving the yanks there anyway to tie up the lose ends for a few years and the jobs done. the country is stable and yes, it's a shame civilians get caught up in wars, and maybe we should never have been there, but that damage was done and once it was i think it was only right we rebuild a state of order, which we have done. just my 2c.

Why not? Money is only a virtual concept. Why can't the entire world just wipe the slate clean and start afresh?

Here, watch this little video and it will put things into perspective for you.:cheers2:

because that's just never going to happen. unforunatly we live in a world where money is the single most important entity to the vast majority of the powerful. after all it's what makes them so powerful in the first place.

i will get round to watching the linked video at some point, at the minute i'm trying to write my diploma assignments as well as chatting. :D

I think jonny2mad has a point, the £100 billion the Eurofighter will cost us is significantly less than the cost of the banking bailout / fallout, but I agree with you McLeodGanja that it's still a royal waste of money.

As I see it, the basic principles are that Europe wants to compete against the US in arms sales, so the Eurofighter provides jobs in the EU and means we don't have to import US fighter jets, in much the same way that Airbus was set up as a competitor to Boeing. Arms is only second to oil I believe as the largest global industry, with drugs third. That says a lot about the world we live in.

My idealistic wish would be for all nations to eventually interact co-operatively, rather than seeing each other as competitors and potential threats to their own security.

The "Ministry Of Defence" - what a load of crap! Should be "The Ministry Of Attack" - and the "Attack Department" for the U.S. Between us we must have bombed more countries since WW2 than anyone else BY A FUCKING COUNTRY MILE.

It really does sicken me how much money goes into global arms, politicians should work towards peace not war.
