so this is how the site is supposed to run.
i was using chrome (not saying they are the culprit just part of the story) and every time i would click on a new thread page i would get a new ad that i could hear but couldnt see. and the shit was moving super slow. then on some pages i go to i would get a recommended pop up slide up from the bottom of the screen. im pretty mellow so i just click close and go about my business. also i got some toolbar on chrome that i uninstalled and it was still there and it had a ton of shit on that thing it was actually 3 rows of toolbars on it. but recently i was trying to just scan some pages of threads here and it got real annoying having to wait 10 seconds to be able to close a thread that i just opened.(damn remember them dial up days?) so i went rambo on this computers ass. the biggest cleanup i ever did besides just rebooting my hard drive. i did the cleanup then uninstalled everything that i didnt know i could trust 100% then did an antivirus scan and deleted every file they recommended to delete. then i did another disk cleanup then i installed firefox so i wouldnt have to use internet explorer. deleted chrome and intended to do a defrag but since everything is running good i will save that for when i go to sleep or go out. i win this round annoying advertisement programmers!!!

Man, I ain't messed with computers in a long time. Still remember messing with the old HTML codes and what not back in the day. I just let my wife do the stuff on it now :D Used to have this old comp and had to defrag it like twice a month or so.

    i use Comodo here

    pretty well same as chrome

doesn't matter anyway because adblock is the main thing that keeps it running smooth

i think the biggest problem is when downloading something...perfect example is flash which i had to get to watch the yt videos here. when i re-downloaded it there is a box marked that asks if you want McAfee to scan your computer. and if you just quickly click yes to install it quickly that McAfee will fuck shit up. just one example i know its happened before and was likely the reason i downloaded that shitty toolbar.

I take pretty good care of my PC.

I use a very simple, lightweight antivirus program called ClamWin and scan only when needed, and am careful what I click online.

I use Chrome and have extensions that can block ads and things if I need to.

I also make sure to remove any junk like toolbars or new homepages that were installed by bad software, and try to never use that software again and go for alternatives that don't leave spam and junk on my PC.

That approach seems to work very well and this machine is currently very fast considering it has very low specs!

I've been using Firefox without problems. For downloading videos from youtube and many other video sites, I've been using the Firefox plugin Download Helper 4.9.21. It hasn't caused any troubles. It's free and can be found by searching for plugins within Firefox.

I use Comodo antivirus. It's free and has worked well for me. Adblock and Malwarebytes are free and good at repelling junk.

Another good utility is Cleanup! 4.5.2. It's free and deletes all the leftover files that accumulate. It complements disk cleanup in Windows. For defragging, I use Auslogics defragger. It's free.

None of the above has installed any viruses or junk such as toolbars or adware on my computers.
