What you have used to justify the the mind as a non-physical entity is infact just concepts of the mind. Concepts that could be explained in terms of neural pathways, social conditioning, and interaction between different areas of the brain. There is plenty of room for differing opinion in this subject as science knows relatively little about this. I'm not sure i fully understand what you're saying about that wax there, surely its just a question of memory! Interpreting present events according to the past.(This happens every second). What im saying is how can you be so sure that the mind isnt just an illusion created by the brain.
Well in that case, I'd say a computer doesn't really interpret anything. I just matches up what you typed with it's memory. It's a totally thoughtless task.
Even all of these concepts and illusions you are talking about are non physical products of the non physical mind. Even if the mind is an illuion, it's a non physical illusion and therefor not specifically the brain. At any rate, it doesn't matter if the mind is an illusion or not. Either way, you still have the sense of "I", am I right? And this non physical sense of I precedes all this anyways.
when do people ever interpret anything? they match up the state of the world with all of their internal schemas about how the world works and they come up with an interpretation. It is infinitely more complex than the computers we have produced, particularly because the style of programming and memory storage we use is nothing like the human brain. But the concept of a complex system existing in a unit, with sensory organs, is analogous to the computer in reference to your argument that the eyes do not indicate anything about what they see. That is because the processes do not occur in the eye, they occur in tehbrain, much the same way that processes of data transformation occur in the CPU whereas the data it recieves comes first from its sensory organs
Perhaps this argument, "its just a drug" rests more on you seeing the mind as pure before you take the drug so your only inviting illusion if you choose to take it(impurifying the mind). either way I have no idea
Mhm I have heard people talk about the sober mind as being the 'pure' mind. But most sober minds i see out there are so chockablock full of impurities implanted (sincerely) by society at large actually every mind is.. what mind is pure? It is so self righteous to think that your mind is somehow pure because you havnt consciously ingested a mind altering substance (or concept).
