i was just reading a toronto daily from 1942...and apparently asbestos was cheap back then

and they weirdly called toothbrushes prophylactics ...kind of expensive too at 50 cents....i bought new toothbrush today for a dollar

 

nylon bristles might of been some new fancy space age stuff then.. last forever, need to pay more, that be my guess..

 

Anyone hear about MTV news taking down a racist video? I was watching comedians on YouTube and one of them mentioned it. I didn't even know MTV still did news. Of course they took it down but the video is out there. Basically it was telling white men to change their ways in 2017.

my news source is mostly npr these days.....friggin Canada choked in the shoot out yet again....one reson why I don't actually watch hockey anymore

 

I was just thinking about how lots of people were complaining that no major nominations went to blacks in the last Oscar's.
I was thinking they should just put the worst black actor or movie in there. Then they could complain about how bad the Oscar's decisions are and not how racist they are.

 

I watch my local news channels. They do a god job at reporting family's stories and positive things going on in the community.

Unfortunately my favorite channel is off air due to licensing negotiations.

They'll work it out. I don't even have to Google why it's off air
It's always about money.

 

I have trust issues with religion so I stay off of those topics. Politics usually bring out the worse in people. I stay off of those topics.

I could do without tv all together
People who lived prior to the 1900's I'm sure lived happy lives without it.

 

Aside from my local news channels. Members here have provided very interesting news topics that for one I'm happy to read , but more importantly they give me a opportunity to be evolved and voice my opinion.
I never had anything like this forum/site before to actually be evolved in a discussion about topics that are important to me and obviously others.

 

17 year Co-worker got fired for calling a female supervisor a "c-u-next-tuesday" should he lose his job/career? Or suffer long suspension?

 

They had a show like that a few years back. Suburban white high school kids being scolded by a room full of other races. And the white kids just take it. I am not one of those people who refuses to feel "white guilt" or whatever people get bend out of shape about but the whole thing was stupid. Blaming these kids who can barely drive for the entire history of white people.

Oops. Sorry. He's 41 years of age. 17 years with the employer.
We works lifting boxes and bulk all day. She's his direct superior.
There are no sensitivity training or anger management courses.

Before his discharge the guy pleaded to deeply apologize to her. She wasn't interested in his apology.

i kind of figured he was older because you didnt say "years old"
i was also thinking that most jobs i have had it would go on a case by case basis depending on the details.
this one i only needed one detail "direct supervisor" yeah he should be fired or at least he should except being fired.

i had a supervisor that i could call names like that to, but you have to know your audience. funny thing is he would curse out everyone else but not me. and i could probly take it better than all the people he would curse out. (on a scale of 1-10 on being insulted in school my school would have ranked pretty high, definitely an 8 likely a 9.)
