well i just searched google for "ultrasound harmful" and i learned that some people think the sound waves from an ultrasound could be harmful to the baby. i didn't know that. so is that what you're referring to? just so you know, those "extra" ultrasounds were done for a medical reason, not because we thought we'd just get more ultrasounds
As I get older it seems less likely I will ever have kids. It makes me sad in a way, but the pessimist in me says "you don't want to bring children into this world." But congratulations to you, Trish, and everyone else who is expecting. It must be an exciting feeling.
LOL to vanilla gorilla. Well, figured I already have that to deal with once and only three years in...might as well make it longer. Anyways, I just finally got back to checking this thread so to everyone who said congrats or happy mother's day while I was gone/not checking thread... THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! Oh... to hh and porkstock- ultrasounds are not harmful. There are many things (testing) that CAN be harmful during pregnancy...amniocetrosis and all kinds of other genetic, etc testing but ultrasound is not one of them. (yes, I have heard that some people have thought that but there really is no proof)....anyways when I said the more ultrasounds the better I mean because for me.. it's always good to see the baby, see everything is going well, etc.---- in a way, yea, not good... because w those big long ones, it's always like... "whoa now they're checking the chambers of the heart...WHY is that taking so long??" (oh they just needed a good pic) but yea, always good when you hear good news. But yea I've never gotten an ultrasound either that wasn't medically necc. or should I say, for medical reasons anyways. Hope everyone (yea this is late) had a great mom's day. I had a great one. Took Case to Lake Tobias and out to eat w case and d. It was very nice.
Thanks. You don't have mothers day at all there? Fathers day? Grandparents day? We even have a children's day which I believe is totally unnecessary as every day is kid's day but yea.
I am sure there are people who started celebrating it during the last few years. Unfortunately, we have all became americanized to some extent. Ir's not that wide spread though. Every day is mothers day, fathers day and childrens day.
Oh! I wanted to comment on this. You bring children in the world as a force against this crazy world.. or, thinking of better way to say it- to bring something different to the world, help teach a person a different way and as a safe harbor from the crazy world. But really I'm trying to say you can bring kids into the world exactly for the same but opposite reason that you're saying.
well that's the dream, and i understand that, but making more humans in today's world just doesn't work that way. no woman should ever feel bad about getting pregnant, but, making more babies just isn't the wonderful positive thing it would be if there were ever anything like too few of us, as perhaps there might have been thousands of years ago. and of course the fathers have to accept responsibility for their roll in this too.
Yep, I totally understand that. I guess you can say I can sleep at night because I know I am stopping at 2 kids.. not 8 or something. And also because in this instance I decided to be selfish and put my own wants over world hunger, etc. I try to make a difference in other ways.... like driving a hybrid (and even then trying to combine trips and not drive for no reason... walk places etc.) and re-using things.
having two kids, and being 33, americanterrorist is not adding to population growth. she has just made enough humans to replace her and her husband. whoops, i never noticed you say this....so i thought usedtobehoney's comment was towards me, and kinda bitchy. sorry, honey.
That is true. Exact replacement. :2thumbsup: (had that thought earlier, oddly enough.) Not my problem if some other people reproduce more than replacing those two people.
i read that as far as population growth is concerned, having kids when young (like 20) has more of an impact than having a lot of kids. so either way, we are good.
Whatcha mean? That having kids young, like 20, has a larger economic footprint than having them older? Or the opposite? lol. I was 30 when my first was born so not far from you or what you'll be.
either way we are not good. at today's human population levels, any and all increase in it is NOT a good thing, AT ALL.
