They are special needs dogs. Because of diminutive size they need to be protected from all kinds mishap.For instance they need to be rescued from the floor when there are much larger dogs playing. Looks to be picked up. Tiny legs can snap. Six pound toy fox terrier lives with me along with a heeler and a lab. Terrier spends more time on the furniture than on the ground and she needs nails trimmed. The other dogs wear theirs down running around and digging.

 

I'm getting better at my form in ducking and running away.

No. Seems as though the reason for wanting to strike with a ball bat is for a perceived lack of sense. Slapping them silly in that case would be futile except by degree I suppose and perhaps the opposite of what you would like to see, some sense.
