He was a messenger, doing his father's bidding and starting Christianity. But he did it, not on his own initiative, but his father's. The will of Jehovah and the establishment of God's kingdom were of utmost importance to Jehovah and still are Down to this day. (Have scriptures to prove if needed)
That Jesus said many times that he did not speak on his own initiative. It was always what the father taught and told him to say.
