Bingo! Unfortunately, Sharon (with the support of Bush) is doing his best to make sure that they stay in the West Bank.

My point is Israel should not be under any obligation to if they choose not to--it's their land. Furthermore, one has to question why not one Muslim nation would give citizenship to any of those Palestinians. Didn't Jordon expell like 100,000 of them? (I'll have to check).

The only reason it's their land is because the UN and the Western powers booted the Palestinians out and put the Jews there. That's fundamentally what this conflict is about - the Jews' mandate to Israel is shaky enough as it is. They'd be wise to realize that and give back some land before they eventually end up losing more.

Israel gained a lot of the land that is being fought over now in wars against Egypt--whom attacked Israel first.

Israel seized Gaza from Egypt and the West Bank from Jordan in 1967. Israel has since made peace with both countries, so there's no valid reason to continue the occupation.

I agree that the Palestinians have no real friends among other Arab states. This is all the more reason they should have their own country. Are you seriously saying that all 3.5 million of them should be deported en masse?

I was talking specifically about the occupied territories, not Israel proper. I don't dispute Israel's right to exist.
