Parental discretion is advised! Anyone anywhere may have noticed that adult entertainment maintains a presence in our media; in particular websites: pornhub xvideos camwhores and chaturbate just to name a few (not picking on anyone... guilty as charged*) If you have kids, or even if you simply have moralistic integrity and sustainable values in place for a morally congruent social and societal experience, you may have noticed that porn (or even just masturbation, but here just porn) interferes with communication, or at least makes eye contact difficult at work or school or church or wherever else sometimes (or maybe you have way better will power than any one of the IP addresses recorded as statistical measures): My thought is if not legislation (free speech and expression is supposed to be in tact) introduce a requirement for ISPs to allow for a discretionary measure at the hands of the consumer. Essentially, if you want access you can have it and if not you won't be able to access it. In that way, if my will power is marginalized because of one of the multitudes of social issues I am facing, or I'm having a bad day, or whatever else I can run down to the liquor store and buy a magazine, or call up my ISP to change my settings, but I'll have to provide a signature for them; either through DocuSign, or by visiting the brick-and-mortar provider... And, I'll be able to look my fiance in the eyes and tell her with absolute confidence, resolve, devotion, and love, "No, dear. I didn't look at porn."
I read this today: By playing on words and using the term "massage," McLuhan suggests that modern audiences enjoy mainstream media as soothing, enjoyable, and relaxing. However, the pleasure we find in this media is deceiving, as the changes between society and technology are incongruent, perpetuating an 'Age of Anxiety'. He was discussing Marshall McLuhen's book The Medium is the Massage.
