Oh no, my dahling....I've worked 7, 8 and 9 hour days...and you do NOT get a break, even if you beg. I haven't tryied crying (yet). No, really...if I ever do cry, everybody better watch out cause hurricane Lynn is there.

The reason they wrote out my schedule like they did was because that was the only way they could justify working me 6 days and overtime, plus I am certain they hoped I wouldn't notice what they had done...but yesterday when I appeared, ON TIME, at 3:30, I was told to come back at 5:00 "because labor is high right now." So, from 5 til 11:15, I worked, not getting a break. lol Now they can let me work all my hours for the rest of this schedule, and I'll be able to slide in just under 40+ hr per week, IF I am allowed to leave when the schedule says I can.

The labor laws in this state are: the employer can do whatever they like to their workers, except for to not pay them for hours worked. An employer can fire you for nothing...like the small business owner that went into the l o n g explanation how I was great with the customers, was the fastest on the cash register, etc and bla bla...but, as he said "I don't like you, so I'm letting you go." :2thumbsup:

so yay for businesses in SC

I gotta say, my husband was super supportive today and it was great.
Today could have gone abysmally but it didn't.

rosemary and mint are supposed to deter bugs. mint will take over though, so you have to plan for it. there is a section between sidewalks where my mint will live. bees love it.
i have some yarrow already growing, i moved some of it to a raised bed. yarrow is pretty tough to kill, and its medicinal. i want to grow comfrey (knit-bone) echinacea, chamomile, basically anything useful is going into my yard. the front will be like an edible meadow. since the city fucked up where i was going to add a driveway, i will instead use it to my advantage for long-term growing. i will add an arbor, and transfer the wisteria from the back (where it is just in the dumbest place) and also grow grapes. probably going to be about 16 feet of arbor. closer to the sidewalk will be 2 cherry trees, planted about 2-3 feet apart, and intertwined. the gas, sewer, and water lines all run through the front, so i have to space big things like trees according to that. and, eventually the sewer line will need to be replaced, so i dont want to put anything over it that will be hard to move. lots and lots to do. #JoysOfHomeOwnership

my mom has a red-fleshed plum tree, makes the most incredible jam. mmmmm. i hope she gets a bunch this year.
the apple tree is blooming :) some of the over-eager blooms got frost bitten, but there are several proper blooms on it now, might go take a picture.

they didn't show a deduction on the 9 hour day because it is illegal to deduct on a 9 hour day...period....it is also illegal to force someone to work 9 hours with no break...very very illegal

if you let them do it then its kind of your own fault

it is not illegal to deduct on an 8 hour or less day

you still are entitled by law to have the breaks...your mistake with the small businessman was not contacting the state labor board first....as you should be with macdonalds....that way if they fire you for no reason you have a case

macdonalds would then have to pay you the time you missed

people do it all the time
