What does that prove exactly? More people commit crime every year, more people get cancer every year, hell more people become CHRISTIAN every year than Muslim.

The thing is that whenever some Christian loony does something horrible in the name of their religion, Christians tend to point out that that guy was an asshole. Whenever a Muslim does the same thing, most Muslims keep their mouths shut and others just come out and talk about how people are being mean to them. Yeah, they are. But if Muslims just owned up to the fact that some of their own do horrible things to people in the name of their religion without going into the moral relativism of "Oh, Bin Laden's bad, but Israel..." or bring up how Islamic terrorism is just a reaction to imperialism, then people would probably be a lot more accepting of them.

The silence bothers me, but the excuses they make are so much worse. You can't excuse putting a bomb bag down next to an eight year old boy and blowing up a crowd of people at the Boston Marathon. You can't excuse murdering Theo Van Gogh in broad daylight because he made a film that was critical of Islam. You can't excuse the fact that a man - a Muslim himself no less - is on death row in Saudi Arabia for saying on the internet something as controversial as - to paraphrase, "Women in the Muslim world are treated horribly."

Islamic anti-defamation groups in the west would do so much good for the people they represent if they just came out and admitted that their religion has some really fucked up elements in it that should be addressed and fixed. And yet, silence and excuses is all they provide.

 

So a British soldier got beheaded on the streets of London for simply being a soldier. A muslimaniac hacked him to death while chanting allah fukbar and he did it 'because muslims get killed everyday' according to him.

The problem is with Islam, it needs to change its doctrine. It enables psychopaths with its psychotic teachings.

 

It does depend on how you interpret it. There are official Islamic bodies who issue official 'fatwas' or interpretations, and there are many councils and bodies who have more or less control of the clergy. I have yet to see any real effort from them to reform their 'interpretations' other than that standard "It has nothing to do with Islam" load of shit.

 

Here's the problem that most people don't understand.

There's no ecclesiastical hierarchy in Islam. IE: There's no man made institution in which a single representative leader can come out and condem the actions of a few. It's also a religion of PRIVACY and condemnations occurs within the community organisations and at the individual mosques.

In Islam in order to have a "leader"... It is believed is that when Allah(swt) loves someone, He decrees it to Gibril (the archangel Gabriel) who then announces it to the other angels who then announce it in the heavens and the earth, and that person becomes beloved, their prayers answered, their presence beneficial to others etc

So in short according to our faith...
In order to get the unified condemnation you desire we need to first have the the archangel Gabriel come down to us.

I have read the Qur'an and I'm studying Islam. There's NOTHING in the Qur'an that says anyone should do those things. In fact theres lots that make it clear to NOT do those things.

The problem occurs because we aren't supposed to tolerate oppression AT ALL.

In fact it's considered better to be a martyr than oppressed. In Islam fighting is justified for legitimate self-defense, to aid other Muslims and after a violation in the terms of a treaty. However it's supposed to be stopped the moment the circumstances cease to exist.

So if the west wants peace with an Islamic nation then it's time to tell our heads of state to just leave those nations alone. Because it's the dirty politics being played for oil and minerals that starts the problems.

Now here is where the problem occurs between cultures.

No muslim would ever in a million years draw a funny picture of Jesus.. or the pope... or any other religion's sacred diety or leaders. (Even if it was just false idol worship.) Because doing such a thing is often considered by muslims a declaration of war or oppression.

This goes back to the roots of Islam and it's struggle against the oppressive practices of the Meccan Quraish(ancient govnerment of mecca).

History lesson:
Mecca was a place that turned false idol worship into a booming market. Tribes came from all over to sacrifice to their gods in the Kaaba. In those days if they didn't like a particular tribe or group they would take their god's statues out of the kaaba and disfigure them. (( One of the many reasons we don't draw pictures of the prophet (pbh). ))

Muhammed (pbh) is adored in Islam. Muslims spend most of their lives trying to imitate him. We wash our hands like he did.. brush our teeth and some men even grow their hair to his length. So when people attack Muhammed(pbh) they believe it's a prelude to oppression or war.

Yet Muslims have no problem in destroying temples and statues not only sacred but also of huge historical significance.
Muslims have a strong history of religious disrespect in countries such as India and Malaysia. In Afghanistan the 6th Century Buddhas of Bamiyan were blown up in 2001 by the Taliban. 3 weeks ago in Kashmir, an important center for Buddhists and Hindus, Muslims after Friday prayers went on an 'inspired' rampage. They killed two Holy cows and beheaded and 400yr old statue of Lord Shiva. Unfortunately there are many examples of mujahids and ghazls in the service of Allah and his Last Prophet.
It appears from evidence that Islam is a religion of peace and love. But only for those who embrace the perceived true faith.

I mean no disrespect but you speak like someone with a sheltered western viewpoint and exposed to anti-Islamic propaganda (apologies if you have other experience, it is my opinion based on your comments). You are obviously an intelligent person who should embrace a wider understanding. I have the deepest respect for any who seek liberation through faith, but this should not be sought through aggression or violence whether they be Hindu, Muslim, Christian etc.

Yes I agree by creating 'terrorists' out of every Muslim we produce factions within society. Many feel that way, but emotions create too many problems when dealing with fanatics. Yes there is no one pope. There are literally millions of them cornered up in small circles in mosques around the world..I imagine they claim (or their followers claim) to have more experience and been oh-so-faithful-than-thou so you basically you and others will have no choice but to listen to them if you want to be a 'good' muslim.
So there are leaders after all. Hell it wouldn't hurt if Islam had organized itself into 1 or 2 bodies to help rein in this madness.
