I was actually brought in to youth groups to attack their beliefs. They recognised as a very intelligent, learned and devious non-Christian I could easily defeat their naive Scriptural pronouncements. They asked me to be a sparring partner for the more zealous would-be evangelists and I agreed. Noone ever won.

That being said

I've lived in Memphis. Intelligence doesn't go over well there. Common sense or empirical science either. Unwavering belief in Baptist belief, yes.

 

BTW Memphis Gay Pride parade is very small and many people in it wear disguises and/or bags over their faces fearing physical attack, ostracism from church and family and loss of employment and housing.

reminds me of the movie "But I'm a Cheerleader"...these parents sen thir daughter to a camp called "True Directions" where the motto is straight is great...she wasnt a lesbain when she got here, but i think she was when she left ... it hink the best part is that a group of gay people break into the camp to get some of the people out to make them AWOL...it is kindof a humours movie...
