very simply because not everyone honestly does. if people were even completely neutral it would exist.
it takes effort to make war, and a great deal of effort that goes into conning people and keeping them conned.

We've been fighting since the dawn of time, even before Trump became president. Why stop now?

It is implausible. War is probably always morally reprehensible, but there are often winners and losers, so it may be a logical choice of action by rational decision makers.

To resolve it, you have to either make war too costly (look at what North Korea achieved), or come up with much better systems of allocating resources fairly. And these steps would only solve perfectly rational wars. Situations like Israel-Palestine are partially rational (competition for space), and partially irrational (ground being holy to several religions).

But give people time. We're doing better than the 20th century so far. If it does happen, it probably won't be with an explosion of peace. More successive generations becoming less violent until we all decide it's not in our best interest to kill each other.

Private sales account for a lot of the Mexican cartel's guns. Texas is already 1/2 brown anyway and they also love guns and the whole private sale none of the government's business culture. It's east for a cartel member to stand outside a gun show and offer people 10x what a gun is worth. Lots of Americans will see what is going on. But some like money or do not care. It is none of their business what you do with the gun. As a responsible gun owner they worry about what they do with a gun. I've seen it with my own eyes. More than once, they always have a bag of cash and enough broken Englsih to ask if you want to sell the gun.

The CIA does traffic lots of guns too. But the "freedom" of American gun culture is exploited. A smart criminal sees he gain a lot because this American is so afraid of other Americans.

and human gullibility is the effing crutch, without which no one would be conned by ideology either.

(and no it wasn't clinton, it was rove, rumsfield and channey who engineered it. but even they weren't entirely mad rogues or entirely loose cannons, but represented a will of a minority but real consensus of some prevelaged who see any good fortune to those less so as a threat to their advantages)

    Or not...

There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas
    The trouble with the maples
And they're quite convinced they're right
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade?
There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
    As the maples scream 'oppression!'
And the oaks, just shake their heads
So the maples formed a union
    And demanded equal rights
'The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light'
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
    By hatchet,
    Axe,
    And saw

possibly the biggest word in the english language, at only two letters long, is also one of the shortest.

""if" said Havaland Tuf. "A most difficult word. So short, and so often fraught with disappointment and frustration"
    (from george r r martin's tuf voyaging)

(two years is long enough for most people to have done at least one non-negative, non-harmful, non-intentionally destructive, thing. even republicans. even if only by accident.)

    Most intelligent answer yet!!

Some of y'all haven't had much exposure to child rearing. -- I want this toy and I'll bonk you over the head with it if you try to take it from me. --

Competition is innate. Best channel it rather than repressing it. The latter fosters mental illness.

World Peace is only possible on the surface if one very powerful government dictates over everybody and all the subjects subservient. While that's physically possible, it will destroy most inner peace, so whether world peace has thus been acheived is debatable.

Better strive for inner peace. That's more valuable than world peace eh.

World peace will be easily attainable once humanity reaches a technological threshold which provides every single inhabitant of the earth with enough resources to make war absolutely counter-intuitive and unsustainable.

Until then, the best we can do with is world piss, where one person from each country pees a little into a plastic jug that's passed around until it is full with the piss of all of the world's countries.

Maybe when genetic reprogramming can alter new brains such that everyone will be happy with what they're given.

people don't need to be programed. just considerate.
(without logic and consideration) the only thing aggressiveness creates is tyranny.

its programming people to hate logic now, that's why we don't have it.
programmed in 'churches' where people have to allow themselves to be brainwashed in order to get something to eat.
those are the people zombies who voted for trump. his so called 'base'.
(and not even clear majority of them)

I don't know about "world peace", but I myself am content with inner peace, peace within my relationships, and in my community.
