Is world peace an illusion that cannot be accomplished?

If everyone wants world peace, why does it not happen?

Because not everyone wants world peace. And those that say they do may have enough conflict going on within themselves that will likely be projected outward in the name of peace.

 

Many people believe peace is only possible if the other person is dead. Can the Jews and Muslims really get along? No, they each have a book saying the other needs to die for example. Without religion and racism we could come a long way to peace. But as long as people think their god is better or the other guy is more ape than them it is impossible. Some people will always need the boost of self esteem as the expense of others.

but it is something a lot of people who won't admit to it, really don't want, because they think they get something out of it not happening.

the NRA for example. also 'conservative' world leaders, dictators and would be dictators, for a variety of reasons.

you would think an average person of reasonable conscience would not want to see people being needlessly killed for the sake of the illusions of ideology,
but the very reason ideologies exist, is to manufacture consent, for the very things no one with a conscience would agree to.

times change though, and people will always be curious as to what each other are really up to,
and the experience of life itself, ultimately brings most people, if they live that long, to the realization that conscience is also a survival mechanism.

so yes, world peace is very possible, even inevitable.

if we don't get there by consideration and logic,
what we're doing to the environment will eventually diminish or possibly extinguish,
the human species.

diminish if not extinguish, to a level that the capacity to engage in large scale conflicts will no longer exist.

as for conflicts between religious beliefs, these too are based on ignorance and misunderstanding.

 

I don't think everyone wants world peace, some world leaders simply want power and to dominate others.

indiginous conservatism is great. they actually have something to conserve. tea nazi's don't.

True but the NRA and their polices ensure gun violence not only for America but for the entire world. Where do you think a Mexican cartel gets a gun or the European mafias? They can not get a gun locally. So in that area along it is the "conservative" who stand in the way of world peace. To them the gun is a right and a "tool" that will one day be needed which means I will need to a kill a man. This attitude is not good for peace.

 

For many reasons....there are too many people in the world and people don't know how to stay in their own lanes and mind their own business....for one.

Let's take hackers for instance. I am using that to my advantage now and telling people that are hacking into my emails off and all kinds of crap, and then watched the results....and they confimred what i already knew...so Pandora go at it......lmao

Unfortunately xenophobia exists, and strongly in some people. If they don't look like us, they don't follow the same religion, their government and culture are different than ours, to hell with them. Hope we go to war someday! Teach them some decency!

Until humanity can move past this then I'd have to say no, world peace ain't happening.

If there was world peace people in the defense sector would lose their jobs. Plus, there's too much poorly defended wealth in the world.

 

Some men have a hero complex and it can drive them to lunacy, to the point where they crave and even create disasters just so that they can be seen as a hero who faces them or, God willing, averts them.

World peace can only come through the spirit, in a land where the hearts of boys and girls alike can roam free and blossom. But where there is great light there is also great darkness. And ever the balancing act.

 

well for what its worth, trump is only a symptom of a much larger disease, though he certainly does a wonderful job of exemplifying and demonstrating it.

people have been conned to believe violent conflict is some kind of default condition. it is not.
in the year 2000 our planet stood on the brink of universal peace.

the entire reason the events of september 11th of 2001 were engineered was to prevent world peace from happening, as it otherwise would have by now.
and engineered is the term, because they were not faked but teased along and provoked intentionally.
and ben lauden, while a participant, was only a secondary or tirtiary player. as much played as player.

xenophobia is not a default condition either but a learned behavior that does not exist without being taught.
