What is western culture? OP mentions Canada and the US, countries that have imported their populations and therefore their cultures from every other country on earth... including non western ones. The OP also mentions Europe. Yeah Europe has many different cultures, but they are not a unified western culture. I'm not sure such a thing exists. So for the people arguing in favor of western superiority, what is the unifying western culture?
Yes....a lot of non-western cultures are pretty effed up, even if you only look at their attitude towards gays and women etc.
The culture coming from west Europe and has dominated in both that region and colonised lands like Australia, US and Canada for the longest time
western culture is not superior ,the west are the pioneers of industrialisation ,the industrial enviroments which we live ,and the capitalist world they created ,that most of us live in ,because of this ,the health of the human being and the planet is allways at risk
Yes but what defines it? Give me 3 or 4 examples of cultural hallmarks that exist in the west whether Denmark or Denver that dont also exist in other cultures. Not trying to be difficult but I dont understand how we're defining western culture... other than what you said, its birthplace in western Europe. If its root location is all we can use to define it it becomes impossible to say its inferior or superior
It's not that the identifying aspects must be absent in other cultures No, its good to try to define it, I acknowledge the purpose of your question, I will make a real attempt later!
The Age of Enlightenment began in the West. It might be possible to define Western Culture on the principles leading to that. It's still just a definition though.
the west is the best ? the pioneers of progress ??? progress towards something ,progress doesn't mean its good ,
