Is traditional marriage becoming obsolete?

We read in these forums that so many folks are having sex outside of marriage, and having all sorts of relationships while still marriage, that I have to wonder if it is time to just drop traditional marriages, in favor of the more open and transitory relationships that so many already enjoy.

There are all sorts of possibilities for "relationships" in the future. There could be one man, with two or more "wives", or one woman with two or more "husbands". In the first case, the "husband" would fuck the women in turn as he desired, and in the other, the "wife" would decide when and how often the men fucked her.

It could even expand to "marriages" which consisted of two or more men, and two or more women. The ideal might be a "marriage" involving three men and five women, in which all the women would give fucks to all the men on a regular basis. The men might even discuss whose "turn" it was to fuck a particular woman.

Would it work?

 

Uhhhhh, seriously doubt it would work in this world. Some serious social evolution would need to happen.

 

There is definitely a difference in marriages, compared to ones say 40 years ago. I know that I am happily married and share my wife with another man. This is something that some people would look down on. It's a different avenue for us that is exciting and fun. I think if you got to many people involved it would be hard not to hit the jealous bone of someone and drama would arise. There is no jealously with us so it's all fun. I would be fine if my wife wanted to bring another guy other than our friend in to our triangle, but she says she is fine with two. I say as long as everyone could get along then there is really no set number of people.

 

Ordinary monogamy marriage is never going away, and it's always going to be the most popular option, but alternatives are also here to stay. I didn't use the term 'traditional' because to me, that means a working dad and a mom who stays at home with the kids all day. That old tradition has been in decline since the 1960's, and is now well below 50%.

 

If you do your research, look up the stats, especially back in times of yor, whether that be 50 years ago, 100, 1000. I think you'll find reality has always kind of been the same.

You think the 50s were a certain way, cos of what you've been told, what info remains, mainly from movies, TV.

Times past in various places around the world, people were more decadent than they are now

 

OP, cheating husbands & wives aside, I would tend to think it's a small percentage of couples who mutually agree to have sex with other people. You're just on a forum where these few couples congregate.

So no I don't see an open marriage apocalypse happening, least not before the zombie one

I don't think it is, even though it may be a smaller part of each person's life, or they may have had sex many times before marriage.

 

people have been conditionally brainwashed to throw any of the values that should be in a marriage, so marriage is about as sacred as..? why marry if you wanna be with someone else?

 

The view that marriage is about two people is increasing.
The view that marriage is about a batch of people (parents + kids) is fading.

 

If you want multiple partners then why get married? I wouldnt want the risk of jealousy and the weird dynamics that come with multiple partners.

 

I'm more than likely never getting married. I think love is overrated, been there, done that. Besides, it's hard to find someone who's interested in open marriage or swinging.

I feel like in this world, men can do both the playing the field thing and the relationship thing, but women have to choose one or the other. So I choose the former. I could care less if I never get married. If I do find someone who's willing to have an open marriage, fine, if not, fine.

Another problem is that men have a harder time getting laid than women. So what if my husband can't find girls but I can find guys? That would be sad. What if he becomes impotent but I'm not and still can find willing partners.

Monogamy and children are out of the question. I'm a total nympho. I love sex way too much to limit myself to one man or woman.

But in general, I think monogamy is alive and well. Let's face it, most people are sheep and conformists. They're afraid to be different in any way for some odd reason.

..could care less about whether you're hurting people, what makes you happy, or real love. It is all about being the same. That is why I am extremely paranoid and secretive.

 

If your talking about "traditional " marriages of the 50,s --yeah ,, they have been changing slowly for decades now. It used to be very unconventional if the couple were just of different race or religion- -imagine that -
- But the 60,s & 70,s changed many of the social mores..abortion laws, the experiment with multiple life partners, the woman's moment, gay rights movement, all played a role in breaking from the norm,
Communal living, gay marriages (with fair laws) , more single women choosing artificial insemination ,and many other alternate lifestyles have been coming into light more and more
Moral attitudes have lightened up ,, slowly but surely. Society is starting to accept that people just want a happy ,fulfilling life . Thats certainly not to say that the majority agree with unconventional marriages, they dont ! ,but at least these "different life choices" are out of the closet and will have to be recognized sooner or later -

I think the problem is you're reading these forums.
These forums are nothing but lies created by phonies so that they can play with their dicks before they go to bed. It's pathetic. I really hate this place at times. Queer people everywhere. In fact, half the shit typed up in this place has me ready to handcuff every kid and place them on a short leash and keep them near though there's really no safe place... you sick fucks are everywhere.

 

Personally I think men should be fucking men, not a bunch of lazy weak pussies that most modern men are. And women should be women. They can have careers and vote, cool, they should be able to. But they need to cut this shit out that it's demeaning to make sammiches. Because they make better sammiches.
