Just wanted to say I sort of relate. I often feel like an alien in my own world and often prefer the company of animals over people.
When you cannot be hurt, you are then free. Conversely, the more you can be hurt, the more captive you are to your own limitations. Hurt comes from other. You are not other. You are you.
I'm very cynical of society/people in general, yet when I talk to people, one on one, I enjoy others and I find that people really aren't that bad. It reminds me of "the man" in 'The Grapes of Wrath'. Everyone is being kicked off their land and they just want someone to blame, someone to shoot, someone to stop from bringing in the tractors and kicking them off their land, but there's no one because the land is now owned by the banks and corporations. Can't blame the tractor drivers. There's just no face to place blame with. Society is shit, we hear through the news all day long of bad things, bad people, bad economy, etc. etc. Yet, when you go outside and start talking to people, the majority in general are good people and it becomes difficult to harbour the same cynicism and resentment for people in general.
Two delusions are exhaustive to offer up the lazy solution to the other side; that's Harper now, Huh? We used to build intersections without lights to study if we need them later for the increased accident risk. Now this other side knows what it was supposed to be instead.
I know the feeling friend.. but I wouldn't say I don't like people, I like the people who are genuine and who I can relate to!
lilchick, i am with you! the older i get the more i dislike (most) people and more like dogs (always have) now there are some people i don't mind, fewer i like and only one i love. however there are many dogs out there that get my attention.
I know exactly how you're feeling, I'm quite the same..but at the same time, I like meeting new people and getting to know them, it's like weird actually.
