Yes more-or-less. I still do not think the argument has ever been about which dreading method is best. Soaringeagle has often suggested backcombing or twist&rip to people, perhaps not as a first suggestion, but he's never said no don't do it, it's not the best way. And the backcombers have never told anyone not to take the natural route. Most of the arguments come from inconsiderately-worded statements that lead to people being offended. I'm not saying we should censor ourselves, but when all we have is words, no body language, tone of voice, facial expressions, we have to make sure the language we use is carrying our sentiments correctly. Sweeping assumptions and generalisations about emos/goths/people who listen to metal only getting dreads to look cool are so loaded with bullshit they're begging for a fight. To take soaringeagle's example, it's no better than saying all Muslims are lunatic bombers. On a different point... I'm a bit tired of aesthetics and spirituality being regarded as mutually exclusive. If a concern with the surface appearance of something was a load of shallow un-respecatble crap, what the hell does that say to all the artists throughout history?! Fucksake.
you lot need to get more.I mean have any of you seen daylight recently??? step back from the monitor and rememeber that there is a whole great big world out there that is far more interesting than this bollax.

To the Original Poster You briefly mentioned the Rastafari way of life as a means for growing dreadlocks and becoming defensive about the ways in which they are grown and being a devoted Rastafarian I believe I can shed a little light on it. We are taught that everyone has a right to a decision, and so we can only really worry about our own choices, because one rule for one, does not make it a rule for another. Hence why you all havent seen me post in any arguement threads, contributing to the arguement at least. I dont really believe it makes the slightest bit of difference at all. We shouldnt focus on HOW we started this journey but we should focus on the community that we have created here as Brothers and Sisters in Dreadlock Culture. Love you all.
fair nuff, i agree. i really didnt say they were. yeah ok, i guess i forgot about you my dear. sorry <3 lol
oh, i remember what i wanted to say in here last time but forgot. no, there really isnt such a divide in the real world. us cyber dreadheads have too much time on our hands and end up arguing about small things. in real life, i havnt encountered any judgment whatsoever, especially concerning methods. really, very few people give a shit about how you got locks (not that thats what these arguments are about) and you will get the dreadhead nod no matter what.
