I dunno. If there is, what are the pragmatic implications?

Wlso, where do you draw the line where your "physical" existence ends, and the "non-physical" begins?. As long as we continue to define it its gonna sound pretty darn physical.

well im basing it on the fact that some birds have the receptors in their eyes to see outside of the human spectrum, and that some bird feathers have colour outside the human spectrum.

Oh you so didn't mean that literally, that was just your little way of saying that birds perceive colour differently than humans do. Not that that's important to the discussion. If birds could talk and you showed one of them two examples of the exact same blue, of the same wavelength, it would say that they're both the same colour. A human would agree that they're both the same colour. What it looks like subjectively to the individual is unimportant.

"seperate physical reality?" seperate or not, it still falls within the realm of human perception. maybe you are treading on the awareness of our existence, dependent and independent of all things(enlightenment?). beyond that, we can ask what is reality? we have all sorts of definition in order to hopefully brush the bright ones under the rug for the time being, but in truth, reality encompasses so many things that in itself, can't be defined. someone once said that, "language both frees us and confines us.(by definition)" seeing, smelling, touching, tasting, hearing, all of these are human perceptions.

the word 'perception' already assumes that there is something to be perceived(random stimuli), and something to do the perceiving(brain/mind). i do not believe the world independent of physical/metaphysical consciousness has any sort of meanings. and these are our realities...

seeing: cones and rods receive 'meaningingless' stimulus in the form of light wave/particle from the outside world which causes activated rhodopsin to send a electrical signal to brain by which the brain interpret the signals and transform them into perceived images.

smell/tasting: they work in similar ways.(imagine lock and key) you have these molecules that float in the air or in liquids. our nose have olfactory receptors and our tongue have taste buds. when functional groups or active sites of molecules attaches itself correctly to a receptor site, again a signal will be sent to the brain for analyzing. independent of us, there are no meanings to these molecules. for those of you who are well versed in chemistry, you will understand when when i speak of the cis and trans formation of sucrose or glucose. well, our bodies only takes one and uses as a source of energy, while the other one is useless in our bodies, even though they are chiral molecules(mirror image of each other). why randomness?

    you get the idea.

onto consciousness. "kami." the consciousness you're attaching the human species to is "self-consciousness." because all animal are also conscious(primal-consciousness). look for a research paper about these kids who are born without a cerebral cortex, you will see that they still exhibit primal emotions; happy, sad, angry, etc. does that make them "not-human?" it's proposed that primal consciousness comes from the brain stem, while higher level consciousness comes from the cerebral cortex. so consciousness is not one of the criteria that make us stand out in the animal kingdom. our ego on the other hand...?hahahhahahha.

the way i think about the brain/mind is through this analogy, the brain is to the mind, as the brush is to art. and i'd be full of shit myself if i sat here and try to get people to believe that i somehow know what consciousness is, because believe you me, i've spent months of sleepless nights writing/thinking about consciousness, time, space, reality, and other crazy stuff. sometime i'll encroach on what i believe to be, is the answer just around the corner, then i realize i'm either crazy or too drunk, haha.

we can think of things that does not exist in the physical world because we take from our past experience/memory and put them into a new combination and call it creativity or thinking outside of the box. btw, walking through walls is not impossible, it's just very unlikely(physics of neutrinos, x-rays, and atomic physics). someone gives me 1000 pieces of lego, i build something, then stand back and say...holy shit, i've built something the world have never seen before! there i stand, perceiving something that has never existed before. i love life~! i need another beer. okbye

I feel that I semi-understand what you mean by this. is it that the brain creates the mind? or the brain allows for the mind to be formed?

I'm having trouble because i had always thought that it was the Mind(conciousness) that created the brain and everything we know to be reality

    i am interested. please elaborate

brain is to mind as computer is to program. yes. i see mind as my physical nature's "desktop". and spirit/soul, as my true 'end user self', moving the mouse around and typing on the keys.

except of course it's a lot more intuitive and user transparent then all that.

but i do see my true self as a completely different kind of thing from the life form i occupy and the world that surrounds it.
