I guess my thoughts are leaning more towards eco-villiage than true share-everything commune - a few 'tiny' living spaces like RVs or tiny houses that are spread out, barn for the critters, larger communal indoor space for recreation and a nice size kitchen.

I grew up on a family farm type situation - goats (milk & meat), meat rabbits, chickens for eggs and meat, garden & fruit trees. I'm comfortable with the care of those as well as milk cows and horses. We produced a pretty good amount of our own food but the adults also worked part-time in the world for actual cash pay. I'd like to be partially off grid - solar & generator for electrical, well water, composting toilets. RV gray water is great for watering things if you use the right soaps, just need to switch out the black tank for a composting toilet or remove entirely and set up outhouses.

I'd like to continue my online work for cash so we'd need either reliable internet on site or to be close enough to places with wifi that I could go there with my laptop to work a few times a week. I would prefer reliable internet on site. I don't want to work so much that I don't have time to enjoy life. That's why we're full time RVers in the first place, cutting expenses down to the bare minimum to give us free time.

Some people that are working outside and contributing some cash plus some labor. Others who are contributing strictly labor but more of it. Not a lot of people, maybe 6-10? I'm pretty neutral about kids but would want them to be their parent's responsibility (i.e. NOT my problem) and some form of additional work/cash contributions from the parents to offset the additional resources used by the children. A section of the land dedicated to RV spaces for a small RV park could bring in some income too.

Is something like this even possible? I see a lot of extremes. There are more urban communes where everyone works outside of home or places that are so far off grid that the group is isolated and HAS to produce income items because there is nowhere to work. I see places that are so devoted to off grid and anti-consumer culture that they attack those who are a part of it. I'm not comfortable with that lack of tolerance or acceptance. Just because I don't want to live that way doesn't mean no one should.

It sounds like you're looking for an RV park in a small town or maybe workamping/camp hosting. I did the rv/van thing for years before giving up petroleum and dollars and there just aren't a lot of community opportunities in that realm unless you're into badminton, bridge, and gossiping.

There are tons of oudated listings at ic.org but a few are actually doing something so it might be worth looking at if you haven't yet.

As far as some folks being intolerant goes, I don't like consumers because their apathetic greedy mentality and their corrupt means of value exchange is literally raping the earth and enslaving most of the people. I'd be more tolerant of consumers if they were more tolerant of me passing through, camping, or hunting on the land they unethically claim as theirs. My lifestyle will not threaten or impede their lifestyle, unless billions of people wake up and join me, which isn't going to happen, but their lifestyle makes freedom and sustainability basically impossible for those that realize what real versus indoctrinated needs are, and will end up driving this shit pile of a species to extinction if it doesn't semi peacefully collapse soon. Basically, since consumerism creates conditions that make it impossible for consumers to tolerate non consumers, consumers aren't worthy of being tolerated. Tolerance has to go both ways but despite people's best intentions, if they are using money and buying crap, they are empowering slavery systems, or structural violence, that makes tolerance of creators/leavers(Ishmael reference) impossible at any kind of meaningful level. Your means of supporting yourself is also suporting evil, corrupt, unsustainable control systems called governments which will buy the bullets and pay the soldiers that will likely end up killing me for attempting to exist peacefully and sustainably.

In the name of sanity though, I've given up trying to make sense of this reality and am going to try to enjoy it like some people enjoy horrible reality shows. Spoiler alert: My show will probably end with suicide by park ranger/cop/soldier/redneck...lol I can't wait!

Anyway, best of luck with finding a place.

    Hi,

I am an older small homestead farmer. I need a young family to share and help on my homestead. You will get a place to set up your camper, van, camp, or build a cabin. The site will be made permanent after a trial period to see if we are compatible. There is co-op water and electricity, poultry house and yard, Garden spot in cultivation, Pasture with a small barn with electric and water, set up to raise goats for meat or milk, commercial or self use. I have a tractor, some implements and tools. It is on a asphalt highway and has school bus service to a small town school a couple of miles away. There is an area of woods and wildlife. Homestead is located in the Ozark Mountains near national forest, and river, fishing lakes.

You will contribute your labor and talent as co-manager custodian because I am getting to old to handle it all. I have a wife but no children.

I can offer some assistance to travel and get set up. I am open to discuss / negotiate details. Sorry, illegal activity not allowed because of local laws and enforcement. I am open minded and a free thinker: beatnik, hippy, rainbow, etc.

    Peace and Love, zz3
