True, nothing on the scale of Anfal or the early 1990s. But as this 1998 Amnesty report indicates... ...but by any normal standards these were no peaceful times for Iraqis.
More people died in Vietnam in one day than have died in the entire Iraq war. Iraq may be bad, but saying it's the next Vietnam only makes you look stupid.
May I remind you that US direct military involvement in Vietnam lasted for some 11 years. The violence escalated over time and in Iraq we ARE seeing increasing violence the longer we remain.
I entirely agree. And neither are these... the nightmare has not ended for Iraq by quite some distance.
Safer for the Iraqis, possiblly. But definatlly not for the soldiers dying for the Iraqi cause. And even while its safer its still not safe...
