Overweight means a bmi between 25 and 30 (For people who are not gym rats)

Obese means a bmi of 30 at least.

    How about a fat man?

I, myself, am an overweight man by having a bmi between 25 and 30 range. But I am not obese because my bmi is below 30.

Does it mean I am a fat man who is not obese but overweight?

Is the word FAT used for both OVERWEIGHT and OBESE, which are different than one another?

Isn't it like the word FAT includes BOTH?

An overweight person is a fat person (bmi between 25 and 30)

An obese person is also a fat person but way fatter (bmi of 30 at least)

Guess what happened a few days ago on a turkish forum.

I am an overweight man as you know. So I am a fat man but not obese (overweight only).

There was a morbidly obese member who told me I looked skinny as if I was light weighted with a bmi of 28.

I think about losing weight because I am fat (overweight, not obese). And in that condition, I looked skinny to a morbidly obese member as if I was light weighted.

Some will always say funny things.

Your the only one here who is calling yourself fat. I tend to use the term overweight

And thanks for calling me a gym rat . Is that because I happen to care about my health appearance and weight ?
And for your information ,I do not go to a gym .

The question of perspective comes to mind!

I think of myself as overweight, but on a recent trip to the USA (California) i was aghast at how many people are morbidly obese. Jiggling masses of fat walking around, dead men walking if you ask me. You can not live a normal happy life carrying around all that fat.

I have lost weight, and feel healthier than I have in years. My diet changed drastically living in Mexico, with a major shift towards more fresh fruits, vegetables and simple foods that are not processed with chemical preservatives.

It was just my way of saying that body mass index works unless you are a muscular guy.

Gaining muscle is a hard thing to do and you need to be a gym rat for that.

IMHO BMI is a useless measurement . If you develop muscles which is heavier than fat then then your BMI will go up .

It only works if you are of average muscle build

But gaining muscle is a very hard thing to do. For that reason, it works for most people.

Losing fat is 1000 times easier than gaining muscle. That's why bmi works for most people.

When I was younger, I went from bmi of 30 to bmi of 22 by losing a lot of weight. But I could never gain muscle. Because gaining muscle is 1000 times harder than losing weight.

    Edit:

If you lower your calories, even without moving, you will burn fat.

If you move, you can burn fat by eating more.

Gaining muscle has so many stupid rules. Eat like this, Sleep like this, Don't lift the weight in a wrong way. Don't make wrong amounts of sets and reps. Bla, bla, bla.. stupid rules of gaining muscle go on....

Losing weight is very simple and it has no stupid rules.

    Only one rule...

Spend more calories than you consume. That is it.

    Move less, eat less.

    Move more, eat more.

There is no stupid rules when it comes to losing weight.

Keto aka Ketogenic diets are becoming popular as they work. The original Atkins diet was a type of keto diet. I would agree with apart from avoiding coffee. There was a great deal of smear of the Atkins diet as big business knew he was on to something. If you want lose weight is avoid fizzy drinks and fruit juice. The human liver converts fructose directly into body fat.
