Demons are like colors, they only exist in your head. People who claim they actually see demons or any type of supernatural visions are either liars or mentally ill. Rational people know their minds can play tricks on them, especially late a night when your brain wants to sleep, or just waking from sleep. Seeing faces in shadows and shapes or hearing things you don't know is real or a dream. Demons are mental issues, wars in your mind, internal conflicts. Everyone's got some "demons" they're dealing with. When you have so many demons in your mind that there's no room left for rational coherent thoughts, then you have serious mental illness. Many seriously mentally ill people will self medicate with alcohol and drugs, this is extremely common.

Turning deeply religious is another avenue people turn to. Fantasy is an escape, everyone needs to escape once and a while. Some do it Sunday morning, other do it Saturday night, and some do it way too often. So much that they've lost grip on reality. Human imagination can be a wonderful thing, it can be a healthy outlet to inspire and resolve issues. Without healthy imaginations humans would have never built anything or developed this modern society. Music and art would not exist exist without imagination. Some of our greatest music has come from the minds of deeply tortured souls. Drug addicted, trapped in fantasy, seriously mentally ill self destructive people. Demons can get the best of you, or you can get the best of them.
