Is Pot really a drug?

MJ is a plant that forms and contains "drug" molecules.

Considering the fact that it can be used in plant form, I'd say that the plant itself, when used like this, is a drug. If nobody smoked MJ in plant form, would it be a "drug"? Or would just THC be the drug?

 

ok, this is nuts. If you want to define it as a drug it's a drug. However, here are a couple of facts. No one has ever died from smoking weed. I heard a rumor that someone did recently but it's a rumor I am sure. People die all the time while stoned because they are stupid, but the act it's self will never kill you. You may hurt yourself or get killed as a result of the weed but weed is my friend and my friend nevery hurt anyone. The second thing is that it is called a drug by the FDA, the DEA and several other agencies but as they say "What's in a Name" its a label like any other. It is however illegal and as such you are subject to the laws that suround it. Keep that in mind and fight to make it legal, just like cigerettes and booze. Let's let it be regulated it will only make the quality better. Just like alcohol it could have a proof and if people can make money doing it then it can only get better.

 

Absolutly pot is a drug. But thats not a bad thing.

umm what does that have to do with the topic? just because it doesnt kill people doesn't mean its not a drug. you can't overdose on lsd, so is that not a drug?

 

it depends on what you define as 'drug'.. lol..

but ya dude seriously a drug is anything that can be put into your bloodstream and not kill you (cause then its poisen). i mean you could inject grass into your blood stream and the components of grass.. whatever the hell it is.. would be a drug in your system.. but it would probably kill you.. or mabye i have no idea what im talking about

What I am trying to say to the person who has to ask the question is that Pot is not something to be afraid of if done right and in the right state of mind is just something to enjoy. Pot is a drug and it's not a drug it is just labeled as such because a government agency decided to label it a drug. Drugs are both good and bad and yes a lot of drugs when taken in high quanity will kill you. So that is my point.

Yep, it's a drug, but the word "drug" has a negative connotation. Nobody ever initially thinks of things like Tylenol when somebody says "yeah I've been using drugs all my life." Chances are, most people around the world have used a drug at least once. Drugs aren't bad, that is unless you're abusing them.

for people who choose to not use weed, the proper attitude to take is that its illegal and do not wish to take the risk and are seeking legal alternatives. Not because 'its bad' or the hundreds of other reasons people come up with to down weed and make themselves feel ok about it. Since I do not agree with the US goverment, i take the risk of posessing it, its the choice i make. People need to make there choice based off of facts.. not because 'drugs are bad mmmmk'

marijuana is definitely a drug. you really think even though its a plant (much like opium or coffee, i may add) and because its found in nature that its not a drug when its consumed for psychoactive effects? face it, you wouldn't even get high if marijuana wasn't a drug, no matter how natural or safe it is...

 

Not exactly true. I think it is a drug because it seriously messed my head up as a teenager. People can become schizophrenic from it, and that is not a myth.

 

Pot is a drug. But it is not a hardcore drug.
hardcore drugs: amphetamines, benzos, coke, opiates (and perhaps alcohol). all those drugs can directly cause dependence and forced euphoria. pot dependence is more complicated lifestyle thing. but theyre all drugs.

 

you obviously had an underlying case of schizophrenia.. marijuana will indeed unleash beasts that you have.. but it will not create these problems.. its only brings them to light..
