woah it looks like i'm in the minority. i choose "safe enough to use" because, i think it is, the majority of the time. BUT - i am 100% against that type of power, for a number of reasons: We have some amazing ways of getting energy like wind/solar/wave etc, renewable energy IS the way forwards, because it's free and clean! Too sad that the government is more interested in other things, obviously. We hav the stupidest people in charge if they think nuclear is more of a good idea than renewable, plus with nuclear you get dangerous toxic waste that takes 50,000 years to get rid of. what a good idea!!! (sarcasm- if you hadn't realised) i know that dams ruin valleys, and i totally agree with you Meng, one of the most amazing and sensible hydroelectric plants i saw was in wales - inside a mountain. It's called Dinorwic and it's also known as Electric Mountain. There's a lake at the top and one at the bottom, the entire system is hidden inside the rock - the bottom lake is pumped to the top, then dropped all the way down again. you can go visit it, it's in snowdonia. anyway, nuclear power is a good idea, but only when people realise there are dangerous consequences that take a long, long time to go away. hang on FREE isn't connected with money here... or maybe i'm wrong?... FREE means free to the environment... aka not fucking the environment up and isn't that the most important thing? long term?...
Wouldn't want the wind turbines everywhere, but i think they're very elegant and a damn sight better looking than any power station I've ever seen.
Yeah, this is certainly one of the problems with renewable energy currently. The production per square meter is shite.
