Is manscaping more common than not, especially down to the wood?

I haven't seen another guy naked, outside of porn, for a couple decades now. I used to see them all the time in hockey, and back then, manscaping was just starting to be a thing but most guys were still au natural. I'm just wondering what the standard is today with regular, middle aged, Average Joe guys.

Personally, I'm a totally not a fan of manscaping and still rock a full bush. The rest of me is untouched too. IMO, the beauty of guys is that we tend to be low maintenance. Guys used to take a lot of pleasure in being able to roll out of bed, take a shower, brush your teeth, put on some deodorant and some sweats, and get on with your day. Easy peasy. Guys who were too into grooming and such were usually vain pains in the ass and to be avoided. But then, gay porn guys started shaving and plucking everything, and however it happened, that converted the straight world too. It's just definitely not for me and I it kind of has a pedo vibe. Guys are hairy, and a little primitive, that's life. I have a friend who was gorilla by 16 but now shaves everything and it's like a second job with the time he puts in. It doesn't look right, and if you happen to touch any part of him, it's like sandpaper. I just don't know how his wife finds this either attractive or bearable. Fucking him must take off the top two layers of skin.

On the flip side, I've got to admit that I do have a double standard when it comes to women in that I get grossed out by unshaved pits and hairy legs, and while I don't generally love full bushes, I want to know that she's a woman and not a prepubescent child. Secondary sexual characteristics evolved for a reason. They're supposed to turn us on and the lack of them turn us off. I just don't get it.

Apparently, gay porn is moving away from manscaping, so if it ever did become the norm in straight culture, I'm wondering if this will put an end to it just like it was the start of it.

Since I am a nudist, I can tell you that manscaping is very common now. Lots of guys doing everything from a slight trim to fully smooth and everywhere inbetween. I have been manscaping since college and I enjoy the cleaner look and feel of it. Not to mention it just feels so damn sexy. All of my past girlfriends (except one) and now my wife have all preferred me manscaped.
As for me, I like to sport a nice landing strip, same width as my cock. Everything else from balls to butt crack is smooth. Its a lot of work and patience but is definitely worth it. Sometimes I think about just getting waxed but am apprehensive about doing it due to the pain factor. Yes it is high maintenance to keep smooth but its much easier to keep doing it every couple of days then to let it go back to natural then start over.
As to the gay porn factor and trends, I can't comment on that. Most of the guys in straight porn seem to trim and shave still, I don't see it going away anytime soon. Even if they stopped doing it, I would continue manscaping as I love the look and feel of it.
If you haven't done it yet, do yourself a favor and give it a try. I may be in the minority here but I would reccomend just going for it and doing either a landing strip or going totally smooth. Definitely go smooth on your balls. Just doing a slight trim doesnt change much for you if you want to experience something different. You may discover you like the result, and your wife may really like it too. Worst case is that you try it and don't like it - then you just let it all grow back. No harm done. As I said, when doing it for the first time give yourself plenty of time to do it. Take it slow and be patient, you don't want any cuts down there. Trends come and go in terms of body grooming but don't let that influence you one way or the other. Just do what you like.

 

I'd say its fairly common as far as shaving their junk goes and i prefer it that way especially when it comes to blowjobs, if i'm hooking up or fooling around with a guy and he ends up having a full bush he's not getting head, its distracting as it rubs your face, gets in your mouth and quite frankly can smell downright bad and just ruins the vibe.

I started due to cycling. Many avid cyclists shave from the waist down in case road rash happens. Wearing a cycling kit is done sans underwear or commando. I did give it a try, albeit unwillingly. I had to get shaved for surgery and hated it. Pretty much immediately after starting to grow back I was in misery. I find the shaved look to be a weird, even pedo, affectation by society which seems to want men, women, and children to basically be the same thing. Being a man has certain consequences, one of them is body hair. Testosterone is my primary hormone and it makes me stronger, more aggressive, horny, and hairy. It seems like the only one of those society tells me I shouldn't be embarrassed about is having greater physical strength, but I'd put money on it that if we flash forward 30 years, every guy is going to want to look like David Bowie. Pretty, androgynous, and rail thin will be where it's at. I just don't get it.
