Letsee, signing your life away to the government to be used as a weapon and go kill people... yeah really doesn't sound like fun or a good idea. Chainz is psychotic for thinking everyone should join... that's why I'm against the draft as well because its wrong to force people to fight against their will.
I'd much rather rebel and during my free time sit at home and smoke a bowl and just chill...

when I was a kid I was programmed into the whole military thing. I thought I wanted to work for ATF or something. It's really bizarre looking back on it.

Some people never grow up and realize how stupid all of this is. It's disgusting.

Libertine, you should know better than to ask that question, I would say it's a stupid move what with the Bush administration??

My brother was pro military and joined the air force, he hated it but learned to be an electrician so it's give and take but if you want to learn a skill go to college.

wow, that's quite a statement, you do know what's involved in being a part of the military don't you? It's no longer about just sleeping in a bunk and being able to shoot a rifle, ther don't 'puters and that ther GPS and whatnot now...

I would suggest meeting some vets and some active soldiers, very bright individuals with just a different set of priorities.

joining IS stupid. There's no good reason to sign your life away as a brainless weapon for the government. you're not doing anything good, all you're doing is being a tool for Bush and the republicunts.

Met some truely amazing people; probably the best people that I know. Got to travel around quite a bit, and picked up a skill that got me my current job.

There are stupid wars, there are stupid people.

    There is stupid logic.

HOWEVER, I don't think joining the military is stupid.

Only stupid reasoning when joining, and stupid wars and so on.

If you were a Jew in Europe during WWII, I don't think you would call it stupid to join the military. Not that I agree with war per-say, but I think there a justifiable reasons to go to war.

its just been a very long time since we have had a good enough reason to, or at least chosen the RIGHT war to fight.

you can do the same thing on your own, or with the Peace Corps, minus the killing and guns.

True. But without joining the military I never would have meet the people I did. It is a certain sense of brotherhood and loyalty that those who have not served will never fully understand, IMO.

Besides, what is wrong with a little killing and guns?

Well if you were to join the army today you would be forced to ask yourself this question,

Was it right to go into Iraq and Afghanistan based on the FACT that religious fanatics were in said countries with what was originally thought to be biological and even nuclear weapons meant to harm innocent civilians.

Now that no weapons of mass destruction have been found it seems like the basis for the war is in a state of change, to what is debatable.

    Should you join?

That is seriously a decision you should make for yourself after alot of research and questioning.

Joining the military because someone else told you to, you think it's glorious, you think it's the only way to solve problems, etc = Stupid.

Joining because you personally feel that you should and am doing it to protect your country and those you love and to help the people you are trying to save (like citizens) = Not stupid.
